It won't help them. This must have spread so far around the internet that having ONE comment removed from ONE forum will actually make things WORSE, because even if this comment IS removed, the story of it's removal has just been aired here, and this is likely to happen every time they try to get something removed.

Instead of Google searches showing the comments, they will show the comments about the comments, and the efforts being made to rewrite history. The only thing that can FORCE a webmaster to remove an article is a court injunction, or at the very least, a watertight legal case presented by their lawyers in writing that has the webmaster's own lawyers advising removal. Anything less is just a request, and can be refused.

I am sure they are making similar approaches to CM to have the rogue pit comments edited or removed. Bryan also has contacts within Rival, so can actually find out whether it is true that the lawyers from both sides are "dealing with this".

It would be great if everyone posted the mail they received from these jokers, as it would become a matter of public record, and if its all BS they can't deny it.

One of the first refuges resorted to by the guilty is bluster, and like Max wrote previously, I suspect that that is exactly what this is.

The evidence of wrongdoing is so strong that they must know they do not have justification to throw legal threats around - IMO this is just a rather clumsy and heavy handed attempt to BS you into submission.

Based on past incidents of this nature I doubt these guys have lawyers on the case, or have any grounds for forcing your compliance

Alas I already deleted it. To be fair it was polite and no threats were made. It was just a simple request to remove the relevant article.

Ooh look here I haven't emptied the trash yet...

For and on behalf of iButler and Bet821 Casino Teams,

    Nicos Theocharides
    Marketing Manager

    Dear ----,

With reference to your published post with title: ----, please note that iButler and Bet821 suspended and removed immediately all game activities suspected to be related to Rival Software on-line slot games. Being highly professional, we proceeded to the immediate investigation of the matter.

The results of our investigation have shown that any material and graphics regarding the said on-line games were provided to iButler and Bet821 by Fenganda Limited, a company registered in Cyprus. Therefore, since iButler and Bet821 were provided with the graphics source files (original artwork), it has never been a reasonable doubt that a potential intellectual property matter will rise.

We kindly request that the article and any comments or related posts to the above subject to be removed from your website as this matter is being processed by our lawyers in cooperation with the related parties’ lawyers.

iButler and Bet821 are growing companies, which constantly introduces and implements new games, with highly educated and devoted employees and are committed to solve this matter professionally with the parties involved.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further clarifications.

I admit I did chuckle at "it has never been a reasonable doubt that a potential intellectual property matter will rise". I don't think that says what he intended it to.

Not a problem KK. I have done as Max suggested and unless I receive the information I have now requested, nothing is being removed.

This is not how things work anyway. The ONLY thing they should be requesting is that they be allowed to state their excuse as a "notice of correction" on any thread or article relating to the matter. All they have done is pass the blame to the company that provided them with the games, and NOTHING said actually addresses the claim that these games violated copyrights vested in Rival. When the case iButler vs Rival is concluded, it would be right to amend any articles to reflect the outcome. This will provide a balanced historical record of the incident.

When a newspaper publishes something that is challenged, they are asked to print a correction at a later date, they do NOT reprint an altered version of the original newspaper and require that all archives destroy the original, or that private citizens swap their copies for the amended ones, or have their minds wiped.

Removal of an article does NOT remove liabilty for Libel, although it may persuade the offended party to not take such an action. This may be what iButler are thinking, however it seems to be a bluff to rid the internet of an incident so that they can prevent potential new players from finding out that this issue ever occurred.

They could be genuinely sorry for their oversight, but if they are intentionally dodgy, new players suckered in are not going to thank webmasters for preventing them from finding out that they have questionable business ethics.

I very much doubt they could ever persuade ALL webmasters to remove this content, nor even manage to contact all of them. Even if they did have content removed, it will still show up in the Google cache and internet archives, and new posts referring to the incident and later cover up attempt will appear.

The incident is more likely to get buried if iButler did nothing, and allowed the passage of time to remove the issue from sight.

It will take a while, since some of us have long memories. It is even too soon for Ministering Angel to make a clean comeback with legit software, let alone Jackpots Heaven.

iButler should ditch their current brands, and relaunch with new and fully legit software, rather than try to cut out the bad bits from the old and carry on as if it wasn't an important issue.

Something that struck me whilst reading these 'polite' attempts at retrospective censorship is that these 'professional' operators appear to be pretty ignorant regarding the various gaming products out there.

That's a little surprising for people who are actually working in the industry and presumably studying the products of potential and actual competitors.

They blithely put up these rip-off games from this obscure crowd in Cyprus without recognising that they were very close copies of games from a well-known and highly publicised software provider - Rival.

Lest we not forget these highly educated and professional employees (employee?) opened a shill account in the forum. The rep for iBulter was also posting as a player.

In my opinion, and the opinion of any court in a free society (like Europe), posting accurate information - which all of this was - is protected speech. A simple "hey how's it going, we had a bad experience with our game providers" personal sort of email would have worked wonders. I would have preferred this over the "form letter" that anyone with a highly ranked Google listing received.

I have no problem updating Rogue listings or whatever, but what happened, happened. Nothing can change that.
