I think it is wrong to do this when someone has excluded themselves from the casino. Also think it is wrong to spam people.

I don't mind recieving free bonuses at all. As long as their from reputable casinos. I have very rarely made a deposit if I lose. I don't find the tactic works on me. It doesn't hook me in. I just enjoy playing with the free money and if I win it's a bonus. If I lose it doesn't really matter cause it wasn't my money anyway.

If people keep going on about how evil casinos are. The folks who want to be everybodies nanny will campaign to ban online casinos and what happened in the USA will happen here as well. And I really don't want that to happen. People should be free to choose if they want to do it. We are adults not kids.

I have had a gambling problem these past few months and it has been Hell. Recently I experienced a bad losing streak which got me depressed and suicidal. After some hard days of contemplation I decided to continue gambling albeit with a very small bankroll and strict rules. Money is tight at the moment and paying bills and putting food on the table is far more important than wasting it on games of chance. Also spending time with your loved ones is far more important. I had been spending too much time on the computer and ignoring those around me. Lost in my own crazy bubble. I really regret this and feel cross with myself. It's not just money you lose but time as well.

I now look on gambling as just a hobby I do occasionally.

    My strict rules are:

    1. Only play with money that doesn't matter if you lose it.

    2. Never borrow money to gamble. If you're completely skint. Practise strategies in play for fun mode. This way you satisfy the need to play but without risking anything. When you do have some money again you will be able to use the techniques you've practised and maybe win something. If you lose and are skint again go back to the drawing board of play for fun.

    3. Never ever chase losses. If you lose shrug your shoulders and walk away. Do not make another deposit and try to win back what you have lost. Just let it go.

    4. Only gamble if you have the time to. otherwise spend the time with those you love. Time like money is also precious.

    5. Have fun. I actually find I do better when I'm just playing for fun. When you're desperate to win. Thinking about paying off debts etc. Things seem to go wrong. If you just enjoy yourself and have a more carefree attitude to winning and losing I find I actually do better. I think state of mind is important. Only play when you're in the right frame of mind.

    6. Never play when your tired or intoxicated.

    7. Relax. Don't get stressed. It's just a game.

    8. Don't get greedy. If you feel you're at a deadend and you're starting to hit a losing streak. Cash out.

    9. Don't follow systems or strategies religously. You can sometimes use them in the short term but if they start to go wrong stop using them. Be adaptive to the way the game is playing. And try to conserve your bankroll. Don't ever double your bets more than 2-3 times the original stake. If you lose a little it is ok. If you just look at what you have in the here and now that is your bankroll. Forget about what you had 5 minutes ago. Just focus on what you have now and be content to play with that.

I really screwed up because I didn't have self control. I lost a lot of money because I was doing the reverse of the above. I think/hope I have learnt my lesson now. I have been through what can only be described as a dark night of the soul.

I decided to continue gambling. But on condition I follow the above rules. The best one for me is to have fun and not take it all too seriously. Is good to switch off the computer and do something else with your life.

Be free. Don't let something outside yourself control you.

I hope this post helps someone.

Also - what if theese same casinos have rigged software, and have all marketing tricks geared against a typical adicted gamblers brain? Will this affect your view?

Thirdly, the way theese casino's operate are not legal in many countries, however they keep doing what they do through shade tax-paradises due to internet-borders that doesn't exist... Does this affect your descission?

In the end it's all the players responsibility, however why on earth should be except businesses like this in the first place to operate? Do we as a society really want such operators?

I have no problem with online casinoes, I love the concept. I just lost faith in current systems since they look rigged to me, and we now see workers from the business go public and tell us what we already knew all the time.

But surely, we shall not do anything, just except the behaviour from them however wrong it may be - since in the end it's the players fault.

Is is only me who has a problem with this?

funky_seagull, great honesty there, it hurts I know! However luckily for you you didn't fall into the free money trap. In my opinion this "trick" works best with a gambler who has seized control of gambling and stopped - hence knowing if starting to play it's a possible disaster as old spin-fever will be back. By will power and not depositing, you are moving in the the right direction, and from open sky comes that freeroll ticket... No hurt, no deposit, just this time, just a few spins - I need theese you think, just tap into that old feeling we love!

Many gambling addicts does this, and the amount is often the trick. Would you refuse a $500 free cash offer? Some needs bigger some needs lower - those few spins was all the juice you needed to get the mood back, hence a deposit is comming.

It wasn't my words, it was Bet365's own words stating this is what they do! Make the player get a few hours worth of spinning for free, to hook them again to suck them dry.

Taken this into consideration I believe I understood where the OP came from, and why I even cared to respond.

Finally, all your excellent points on keeping controll. Bearing in mind we are compulsive players, theese points are often what our "type" usually fail... Maby we lost rules and scruples somewhere along the road, I don't really know!

No, this is not what I want. What I want is transparence in the business, I want people to analyze the randomness of a gamesystem. I want cashouts to be as quick as deposits, I want an online casino to work much or less like a brick mortar casino!

Online Casinos have really made a killing, they are able to just do as they please with everything! We have no control what so ever on them, and most are beginning to understand.

That is what I want - fair play! Remove all the obvious trickery created to work against gambling addicts, which others are not allowed to do!

Of course thats what everyone wants but lets also not forget that theres a lot of rogueness goes on off the net as well as on it where gambling is concerned..look at uk betting shops and there RANDOM<lol> roulette machines? horse racing is that fair? the whole gambling world is unfair on punters for one reason 99.99999% ALL LOSE...now if it was fair then that might increase too 99.99999998% because YOU CANNOT WIN GAMBLING no atter on the net or off..another bit you mention is cashouts to be as quick as deposits well thats just imp[ossible bordering on madness to suggest that can happen...within 24 hrs yes but instantly never too much cc fraud these days and casinos have to protect themselves..regulation yes i agree but whos gonna regulate it?? the uk national lottery is the biggest scam going and thats uk regulated...lol and everyone knows its a scam so my advice woul dbe if you dont like whats going on then maybe you need to just give up playing online huh...

Hehe, you know you sound like man! No woman would reason so manly as U doing now, unless you work in a heavily man dominated field! Also, you are talking typical my talk aswell being down to earth accepting reality and not looking for utopia. Funny as it seems I should be more agreeing with you, on the other hand knowing something is wrong and not being able to do something about it doesn't mean one should embrase it... Together we can make a difference. The old saying, together we stand devided we fall! And it is true!

But We might aswell call quits here since we are repeating ourself in the hunt for the perfect argument. Either of us are gonna bend, and both arguments are valid in my opinion all depending on your view on life it seems...

Spot on! And while we are at it, why not do something about it when we have been enlightened! After all - we can make the world a better place not? Isn't that the point?
