It was definatly rome casino. The site used to have a video of some roman warriors on a chariot or something which played when you went to the url. I went there while I was still on the phone and the video started playing, and he could hear it playing and said something like " thats good I can see you found the site because i can hear our video playing"

Found a copy of it on youtube, its a very well made video.

Another interesting thing is that they openly accept AMEX.

Whoa.....if they're doing something as shady as accepting AMEX, STAY AWAY. There's not a legit casino around that accepts AMEX for deposits.

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...

What Pantsdown refers to took place at the end of MAY, some 2 months BEFORE Rome casino was supposed to be operating, yet he reports being able to navigate to the website, a website which according to the Rome casino rep launched in August. These dates are from the other forum posts linked to, Pantsdown didn't make them up.

The administrator of that forum had a look, and thought the casino then used Total E-Soft and not "Top-Game".

As for accepting AMEX, very odd indeed, especially since they launched as US facing, and only in August, when UIGEA made it impossible to use ANY kind of mainstream credit card for deposits, with even virtual cards being widely blocked. Any statement regarding credit card deposits would have to be aimed at the non-US market, where such deposits would work with VISA, although probably not AMEX or Mastercard. I am in the UK, and I have ALWAYS had Mastercard deposit attempts declined by my card company, and here it is legal.

The question is, Rome Casino - was it up & running at the end of May and Early June, or was August the launch date.

It is possible that there is a similar casino, using Total E-Soft, that has become confused with this "Rome Casino". It could be a slight difference in domain name causing the confusion, which may be deliberate on the part of the "other Rome Casino".

The sleuths among us now have some looking around to do, are Total E-Soft up to something again? Who is the genuine article, and who is the fake "Rome casino".

There is also the "wayback machine", that may retain what was on a domain of "Rome casino" around this time in late May.

It is not just the UIGEA, but Amex has had a long-standing policy of not allowing Amex cards to be used for online gambling (cash advances in Las Vegas are OK), so any online casino accepting Amex cards is automatically dodgy.

I'm 98.75% certain I met some reps from Rome casino at CAP London in January - seems strange that they would have been there if the launch wasn't until August...

Also I checked with the rep here & he confirmed their sign-up bonus is Phantom.

I'm not sure that taking AMEX makes them dodgy. There are a few places in the past have taken it quietly and I would never call them out. This place though has it at the top of their banking page out in the open.

The ongoing confusion might stem from romancasino(dot)com (a very shady history and questionable current associations) or from the Roman Casino(land based) in Renton Washington, USA.

As far as the AMEX thing...
Credit Cards - Visa, Mastercard & American Express (AMEX)

Althrough Rome Casino accepts Visa International, MasterCard, and American Express (AMEX), some banks prohibit their cardholders from making transactions with online casinos. Moreover, the credit card companies themselves place restrictions on the amount of money you can deposit into and withdraw from the Casino. For this reason, we recommend that you open an alternative payment method for your transactions, and we will reward you for doing so.
Furthermore, due to restrictions imposed upon Rome Casino by Visa International, MasterCard, and American Express, we can no longer process any portion of any withdrawal to a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card including the players' original deposits made by Visa or MasterCard credit cards.
    source:http://www.romecasino.com/banking.php (I added the bolding)

I don't think it sounds shady, I think it is what it is... Even considering the spelling mistake.

Also if one of the Rome casino Reps is around... What type of 'rewards' are you offering players for using what kind of alternative payment methods? Your statement about rewards is very vague, hope you can clarify it a little.
Beware... Killer Teddy in the house...

I checked the wayback machine site and according to their site, "Material typically becomes available here 6 months after collection." so with that in mind.

This is the info I found here.

For those that don't want to look, the site romecasino.com has had periodic snapshots since 2002, all snapshots are of the domain for sale variety.

If you opt in for the bonus, you can not withdraw any amount from your account until you have met the wagering requirements. For example: Deposit $25 get $50 Free - minimum wager is $4000.
You can easily calculate the overall average wagering:

Assume the casino has a payback of 97%. That means they make 3% profit.
Therefore on average each $10 will theoretically generate so much playthrough or wagering before the casino earns the $10.

10/.03=333.33 each $10 can theoretically generate $333.33 worth of playthrough.

so for $50 (on a 97% payback casino) in bonus money you could theoretically generate $1666.66 in playthrough: 50/.03=1666.66

Assume the casino pays 98%, which means a 2% profit margin.
    10/.02=2500
each $10 could theoretically generate $2500 in playthrough.

The casino would have to pay back just under 99% to get $4000 off $50 on average.
