    Their site states (pre-correction).

The maximum bonus is $200. This free bonus is added automatically upon your first deposit, so no coupon code is necessary. The bonus is available identically in all currencies - USD, GBP & EURO.
This means you get the bonus, even if you are using the "Simmo method".

You then have the trouble of asking CS to remove it to avoid 80x WR, or using it in the hope of striking lucky.

Rome casino clearly intended to deter "bonus hunters", although they may have overdone it with 80x on slots. It would have been better to have designed the software to take care of all the bonus playing strategies that have developed over the years, and had a more modest WR for the games.
Other software suppliers have done this, and no-one is better placed than a NEW software brand, with no legacy code to worry about.

One method would be to ensure the software recognises a bonus in the account, and modifying the lobby to ensure that banned games are disabled, or have them set with maximum bets low enough to prevent the strategy of betting high with the entire balance as a starting bet. They should also have a pop-up window for when players deposit and qualify for an automatic bonus. This should display the terms for the bonus, and two buttons, ACCEPT and DECLINE. Players using the "Simmo method" would have the "decline" button rather than having to ask CS to remove the bonus.

Loyal players should have more generous terms for any bonuses, as they will have demonstrated that they are there to play, and not just hunt the initial bonus. Advancement up the loyalty ladder should be clear to the player, based on something like comp points, with the levels set such that players could not simply "grind" their way to the top levels and bonuses by using the bonuses from lower levels in a process that is +EV

Heck, even 50x WR is more than enough, and 80x is absurd.

    $500D + $500B (or any #, just an example):

    $50,000 wagering * 98% payout (being generous) = $49,000 = $0 expected return.

    80x:

    $500D+$500B

    $80,000 wagering * 98% payout = $78,400 = -$600 expected return.

Let's get more realistic with the WR, Rome...

From their site: "In the interest of fair gaming in order to cash out any amount of money you must wager at least twelve (12) times your play bonus, plus the deposit unless specifically stipulated in writing by an approved representative of Rome Casino. Once you receive the bonus, you can not withdraw any amount from your account until you have met the wagering requirements. For example: Deposit $100 get $200 Free - minimum wager is $3600. Deposit $200 get $200 Free - minimum wager is $4800."

    Well that's more like it.

Quite a move from 80xB to 12x D+B. It is also a PLAY bonus, so presumably cannot be cashed out, making 12x not all that generous anyway, but in line with many Playtech casinos, and around two thirds the WR for many RTG casinos using play bonuses.

Yep...it's still -EV even at 12x...by about $8 once the bonus is removed. (Assuming 97% payout)

It still doesnt change the fact the slots are a 3 dressed up as a nine, they look and play great but the pays sucks, the bonuses suck and the free spins totally suck, they need to increase the pay tables, add multipliers or whatever.

No, it has a positive expectation, you just have to play it with the right strategy.

True, but for the average Joe that doesn't know any better, they're going to lose 9 times out of 10

To have any degree of success, they need to develop some new basic game ideas. Many casino operate "clones" of particular games, but get away with it because they have hundreds of slots, not just 9. Microgaming have been issuing clone after clone, and this has not gone unnoticed, or indeed without complaint. An early example are the numerous clones of the popular Thunderstruck slot, there are more than you would think. So far I have these.

    Thunderstruck
    Ladies Nite
    Spring Break
    Summertime
    Agent Jane Blonde
    International Casino Games
    Belle Rock Slot
    Fortune Lounge slot

Most think of only the first 4 ( 5 if they play at Grand Prive).

Loaded also has quite a few clones, including Palace Group Slot, and the New Sure Win slot.

Ho Ho Ho was cloned for Munchkins and Twister.

I can't see anywhere on the site that it says this is a phantom bonus - quite a key piece of information missing there.

Maybe the Rome rep will clear this up soon...?
