When Do You Say I"ve Had Enough?

have you ever thought im just tired of online gambling and wanted to quit? im interested in your thoughts. have you ever quit for a small amount of time or taken a vacation from it? did you think im done with this and got an email that was just to good to resist and started back? what makes us keep comming back even when we have been on a dry run, is it the thought of hitting that big random jackpot? i would like some feed back from everyone or am i the only one that has these thoughts and still after that pot of gold at the end of a never ending rainbow?..............laurie

I take breaks from online gaming all the time. Sometimes I just can't afford to play, and sometimes I've just had such a bad run that I feel the need to stop for a while until my bad luck takes a turn.

As for what keeps me coming back, it's not usually an email or anything like that. Typically, I'll just get that urge. I am definitely a gambler at heart, can't stay away too long, lol. I do just gamble for entertainment purposes and I never take it too seriously. I have fun whether or win or lose and have had very few sessions where I've walked away without having had a few moments of fun at least.

    Re

I have cut down since I just don't get the play for my dollar anymore.

I still play, just not as much, but once in while I just get that pick-m-poker urge, lol

I'm backing off for several reasons.

    1. Too much of my time and energy
    2. Not enough disposable income
    3. Make sure I'm capable of moderating and/or quitting if I choose
    4. etc. etc. etc.

I think it's good to do a little reality check now and then.

I did quit, from the day NETeller shut us out (Jan 17) till this week (10 months?). And when this bit of gambling money is gone (as it is disappearing all to rapidly), I'll be done with it again for awhile. I like playing online and miss it. It's rare I get to a B&M casino (a couple of times a year -- maybe), so it's nice to be able to spin a few reels or play a few hands of VP at home when the notion strikes. BUT...

Complications of getting money from here to 'there', fees involved with that same process, and even worse problems withdrawing... put all of that on top of the fact that after all that hassle of getting money deposited -- my deposits disappear in moments, with no or few hits to ignite even a spark of hope that a 'real' hit is possible.

When it's not fun, it's time for another break. And breaktime is nearing (again) for this old mouse.

I'd rather scratch my Tunica B&M 'itch' anyway.

The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

...........im glad im not alone thinking like that, it just seems to be such a pain in the ass for u.s players, sometimes i think of just saving up and going to tunica or las vegas(dreaming again)or just maybe buying that winning lottery ticket and hitting the powerball . it just isnt fun anymore when you cant play where you want and you have to move heaven and earth just to find a way to deposit, and then your sitting on pins and needles wondering if youll get paid if you do win.............................laurie

i used to play online a lot. after some bad experiences, i just quit. i occasionally checked up on casinomeister to see how things were and started playing again when all the great talk about 3dice showed up.

i've had a great time playing at 3dice the last couple of months but just decided today to quit again. please don't get me wrong, i'm actually still up a little from playing at 3dice even though i've lost a lot this last week, over $2000 i think. (don't worry Enzo, it's not you or 3dice , it's that damn supersuits that broke the camel's back )

it's that trap we all get into where you play a certain wager, get really familiar with the games, so you raise your bets and deposit bigger. but sometimes, your luck can get really bad at that same time and then it's really hard to go back to .30 or .50 when you just lost a load playng $2 or $3. we get greedy.

the reasonable thing for me than is just to quit for a while or else you fall into that spiral of increasing your bets and chasing losses... not fun anymore.

i love checking up on casinomeister and will continue to do so. if ever i get the urge again, i'm glad to know that 3dice will be around. for me, quitting again now is great because i had a great time, i'm a little ahead, and found a great casino if i ever need one.

someone else said this, but when it's not fun anymore.... time to take a break. and like lojo said, sometimes you just need a reality check.

I've slacked off some myself the last month or so and with Christmas coming up as I need my $'s for that, so that is more incentive to lay off for a while. Also I don't get a chance to go to a B&M that often, but we are planning a trip to Harrah's Cherokee next weekend for a concert and a one night stay. Wish me luck! I've been there several times before but haven't been in a little over a year. After visiting Las Vegas a couple of years ago, Cherokee pales in comparison IMO. I'm also thinking when we get back from Cherokee that I'm going to lay off for the month of December at least. Of course if I ever manage to win one of the free semi-finals at Jackpot Factory for the big $100,000 tourney I'll play that.

I started slowing down since my fiasco. Im thinking on the lines of Laurie. Rich and I were thinking if that I use the money I want to online gamble with and put it aside and save up to be able to play $5 machines at the Trop instead.

I just cant affford to keep losing month after month. It's like trying to impress a guy day after day and you never get a compliment but yet you keep trying because you think, maybe today is the day and it never is.

I don't know if it's improper to quote an e-mail i received from Enzo at 3dice, if it is i apologize but i was so impressed i wanted to share it with you guys.

    "Dear Hippo,

Thank you for your feedback, and the support you have given 3Dice in the last few months. We have been honored to provide you with the gaming service we did and I'm glad it is not because of something on our side that we arrive to this point today. I fully respect your decision to take a step back, and have closed your account at 3Dice. This means starting today you will no longer be able to login at 3Dice casino (not for real not for tournament play), and you will no longer receive any 3Dice emails. From this point on, any further requests on your account will be subject to a cool-down period of 3 days, and will only be allowed after mutual agreement on a deposit limitation.

    Thanks again Hippo,
All the best ! Enzo "

Now, that is first class!!!! it's like saying, "we are sorry to see you go, but if you ever decide to play again, we want to make sure you've had time to think about it and want to help you from overdoing it."

Thank you Enzo and 3dice for a wonderful experience and for respecting and appreciating your players.

p.s. babs, it's kinda the opposite for me and my wife. we used to go to our local indian casinos twice a month and would lose about 600-1000 each time. so playing online the last few months for me has actually saved me quite a bit of money and driving time(1.5-2 hours each way). plus i don't remember the last time i had as much fun playing B & M versus online at 3dice, though i miss the free buffets = ) . with the christmas holiday coming up, i'm looking forward to a break from gaming.
