New Forum upgrade

I was wondering, why the change?? The website was easy to manuever, easy on the eyes, had great content...Why the change??? I do understand some must change their underwear regularly, but an entire website that worked for thousands??? Change isn't always good when something worked....why break it... (frustration speaking here, from the horrible colors and lack of definition to the way you can view anything)....


Just because your cat is old doen't mean you throw it out and get a new kitten...ya know??? You have to start all over again with the trust and love thing with the darn kitten hoping it will be as good as the old cat you threw out...

Cats aren't forums

The thing is ,the old forum was "end of life" which means there is no further development from the software company (vBulletin), and not much support. Also, the license expired - so it only made sense to upgrade.

The only reason this hasn't been so seamless is that I have to test the colors and layout as I go along. Plus I have to re-install all of the plugins one at a time, not to mention create new graphics. There is no opportunity to do this on a test site. So there ya have it

The content is still here by the way.

Actually, this is the "home" page for the content management system for the forum. Not to be confused with the rest of the website. It's a place where articles and posts from the forum can be uploaded - new blog postings, webcasts etc.

The problem is that the learning curve is way high. I've been reading up on a myriad of FAQs and instructions for most of the afternoon. It's not a simple task to master - yet.

You betcha - but this only works for Admins and up.

I've got a lot done today - the new tabs up top will help somewhat with the navigation to the main site. Blogs, new graphics, new style templates and the CMS section will be happening next week

And it's the beginning of a weekend. Time for a break.
