32Red and Will Hill in legal contention

Media reports that William Hill is facing a lawsuit from the Gibraltar-based 32Red.com, which has launched a claim against it, alleging trademark infringement.

William Hill runs an online service called 32Vegas, one of a number of websites it acquired in a deal last year with Playtech.

But 32Red claims the site is confusing for its customers and wants William Hill to close down the operation. It says it has suffered “loss and damage” as a result of the rival company and hopes to recover funds to compensate for this.

A spokesman for William Hill played down the dispute. He said: “This is the kind of claim that is made regularly between businesses. We have been advised that this is not an issue for us and are confident of our position. We will defend our legal rights.”

Quite strange as 32Vegas is going to renamed to 21Nova (http://www.affutd.com/en/news/archive ) ... if WH was so confident on their position , why rebranding it ?

That would indeed appear to suggest that Will Hill is taking the issue a lot more seriously than it's spokesman's attitude suggests.

I wonder whether 32Red will persist in its claim for damages once the brand change has been made. It begs the question why 32Red did not proceed against Playtech on the same grounds prior to its deal with Will Hill.

It's a fact that players confuse 32vegas with 32red, just search this forum and you'll find a few threads that support this.

The original title to this thread was "32Red casino - makes me wanna go hmmmm" we had to change the title.

Here's another thread complaining about 32Vegas and some members (seasoned members) where they're getting confused:

    More discussions about confusing names:

When 32Vegas was launched, it was only after 32Red had received rave reviews. Hell, I even contacted 32Vegas' support to ask them the meaning behind "32Vegas" - they didn't have a clue. "It's a cool sounding name." they said. Yeah, right Like I just jumped off some boat from China.

32 has no significance except with the combination "Red" - you can read the reasoning behind the name "32red" here.

I wonder if William Hill would have an issue if someone started up "William Hall Casino"? I wonder how long that would last

But to be fair, this is the mess that CPays left behind for WHC to clean up.

Rebrand operation has been completed - 32vegas website redirects now to 21nova.

    http://www.21nova.com/

They didn't really worked much on a new logo , apparently

Edit : What about William Hell Casino ?
