If your buying links just for SEO...

JUST DON'T

Buying links is not just a waste of money, it can hurt your sites ranking in Google.

Google is actively seeking sites that sell links... and when they find one they punish it and all the sites that purchased links from it.

The really big and successful SEOs are all whispering about the fact that when you turn in a link selling site to google, google gives your site a small "Trust Ranking" boost...

Real SEOs know that google "Trust Rank" is the real juice behind good rankings in google...

Google is over-rated, anyways......they make webmasters jump through hoops to figure out what exactly they were "penalized" for, then try and guess at what will make things "right" with Google.

Unfortunately, the majority of users use Google for searches, so they have webmasters by the balls, so to speak...:p One search engine that I would LOVE to see more people use is www.nexplore.com....I've been using that for awhile now and IMO it runs circles around Google, and WITHOUT the stupid spam bull#@$@# you get from Google searches; by blackhat webmasters that have found a way around their 'filters'..

But, I do have to agree with lots0 on this one...from a SEO standpoint, link farms are evil when it comes to ranking with Google.

Ok, my bad. this leofixer guy was spamming the shit out of this forum with his crap, I merged the posts ... and things got messy. Mea culpa, but there you go: keep the posts to a single thread and everyone is happy. Start posting the same crap all over the place and shit happens.

Better luck next time. :D

Oh, and Mr. Leo is on the "Moderated Posts" list until further notice.

Mr. Leo, this means one of the moderators needs to approve your post(s) before they will appear on the forums.

Agree -

However,
take careful note about the "Trust Ranking" boost.
This is real. The more link selling sites you turn in through google webmaster tools the more of a "Trust Ranking Boost" your site gets in the google rankings..

Forum posts like this are an SEO gold mine... ;)

Sheee-it! I'm goin' webmaster huntin'!

ADDED:

It is very IMPORTANT to make sure the site is really selling links before you turn it in.

If you turn a site in for selling links and it is not selling links (as determined by google's search quality team) you most likely will receive a reduction in "Trust Rank".

BTW - I have already had several people contact me asking for my info source and links to back up what I have said about turning in link sellers for a "trust rank" boost.

Sorry folks, your going to have to take my word for this.

However, once you see your google search Ranking improve...
You'll be convinced.

hmmmm. you guys are well on it hay!

Thanks Meister-men for noticing that he's spammy! ive had a few correspondence with the guy but not bought any...

Yes yes yes google do not appriciated the purchasing of links, infact its agaisnt their erm... rules... or whatever... but what they dont know cant hurt em!

Basically it wouldn't produce them all important organic results... they love that word.. organic... i like folksonomy - refers to social bookmarking... i thought that would take off but it seem to stay down!!!!!

Yea buying em is a needs must thing, but juice does (as you say) pass down the line...

Ive personaly seen once where google punish (i.e just rip you off the serp list) one casino brand, but im not sure google is operating its casino / gambling in the same way as the other results.. the guys that i know have been very very very aggressive with their casino brand and it seems to have worked... they rank No 1 after all (ill not plug em cos its a crappy affiliate) but they said if tehy'd done the same for a bank etc it would get noticed...

either or

Please keep adding me your URLs ill have a look n if theres something in it then who will ever kno... moms the word... right?

Peace out meisters - BiG LOvE DCx:thumbsup:

I seriously doubt there are more than a hand full of link selling networks that goog is not aware of...

Once goog started giving web masters an incentive to turn in link buyers and sellers to them the days of their anonymity were numbered.

As far as Ranking for Gambling terms in goog... well lets just say that 'maybe' some goog search results go through an organic filter before they are published. ;)

LOL ive often thought that google would be on the networks for buyin and selling links.. ther are a few ways to swerve them tho... obviously dont post ya links onto the thread directly, dont contact the seller with the same email addy as your reg on the forum etc etc etc... n hide ya IP... they've got nothing...

digital point / sitepoint is a great place for sharing swapping anything seo related! i even think it could be a good place to find a job with google, because if they are floating about these sites n u impress them man who can... you maybe got one foot through the door!

still... i dont kno if there is any credibility to the idea of dobbing in link sellers to google... how on earth could they prove such a thing has gone on? but still i like the outside the box thinking!

peace out meister men n women!

Total bull shit...

Why not read what the Authority Google has to say instead... (you should listen because they are the ones that will penalize you)

Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

Why would anyone who is not a scammer want to keep promoting selling links?
Buying and selling links is NOT a way to get your site to succeed. Buying and selling links is only a way for some scammer to make some money off of an uninformed or misinformed site owner by selling links that does your site no good and will come back to bite you in the ass.

The interesting part is where google will remove a site, if a webmaster can show where the site is engaged in buying or selling links that pass PageRank.
