hello fellow members i have a message to people in regards to pitbullpoker and the tricks they have been doing
yesterday i registered for a buyin of $3.00 to a sit and go tourny and as soon as the game started to load i then got redirected to a alternate site called blockdos.net i was getting this site for over a hour and after the hour passed i noticed the tourny had ended and my fee was taken i then contacted support who said that there was no reported outages on the site and that they never heard of blockdos.net so i did a antimalware scan on my computer and installed a good virus checker still nothing found so after a while i was able to login again to the site i noticed the live chat had about 12 in que before me usualy theres 1 or 2 at most after 20 min i asked them again whats wrong they still say no problems on our site its your computer only sir

so i entered into another tourny and while there i noticed everyone chatting about this blockdos site and they say they all got told the same excuse as me there computer is the only one affected everyone lost there buyin fees for the tournys they entered into

also i noticed over the past few weeks there site has been running extremly sluggish and games freeze constantly

i have included a screen shot of the error page i was redirected to if you do a search in google and type pitbullpoker and blockdos it clearly shows this site as been linked with pitbullpoker but they say never heard of blockdos

also included is the 2 chats i had with pitbullpoker staff who state its only my computer and my version of flash player

Clarification

Hi pharwood,

Im Dave Brenes, a rep for Pitbull Poker and Id like to look after your case. I want to offer our sincere apologies for the trouble and the confusion. First, I will have your account credited with the tournament buy and the entry fee and as well as another buy and fee for the same amount as a token of appreciation. Second, I will explain to you what that message was.

A couple of months ago or so, our ISP (which hosts several clients) was target of a DDos attack, which basically is is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted efforts of a person or persons to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. This caused our servers to be significantly slow and some tournaments had to be suspended. So since then, we put in place a protection against such attacks.

This does not necessarily mean that we were victim of a DDoS attack, but certainly the system detected a high volume of queries coming through our port, therefore it took preventive measures to control the traffic flow. Reason why you and some others players saw that error message.

So in essence what you saw was the system protection active to maintain the integrity and functionality of the site, however you possible were part of the section of queries that the blockdos.net chose to deny entry while keeping the servers stable.

Please PM with your Pitbull username and Ill make sure to compensate you. Cheers!

@pharwood: As you will have seen in the Pitch-A-Bitch FAQ we don't like having PAB-related issues on the message boards while we are trying to handle the PAB. Since you've got a representative's attention here I am suspending your PAB. Good luck!

Furthermore such issues belong in the Complaints section which is where I'm moving this now. If it so happens that you do not have posting rights in the Complaints section and you'd like access to that thread drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do for you.

Why is it when ever a site has a problem it is the customers pc they all say reboot delete cookies an temp files it is always blamed on our pc's??
As for the Blockdos bit that sounds like a bunch of crock considering the OP said there were like 20 or more that had the same problem
well I know not to reinstall your poker site as you have a standoffish attitude about the whole thing a high # od quries coming thru your site gee what if several 100 wanted to play at the same time would it kick them all?

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Certainly you have a point there.

Like I said, our support was not properly addressing the issue in question. It was not the player's PC. This is why I am willing to extend a compensation to him and if he has the list of players he mentioned I will follow through with those members too.

As for the DDoS and the blockdos.net, it is not crooked or anything, actually DDoS is more common than you think, however the ISP was the one who received a massive attack to their connecting ports which through their clientele is connecting the servers, including us. We are not talking about a few hundreds, we are talking of dozens of thousands queries at the same time attempting to access the servers, enough to crash practically any poker room's servers.

We have not determined yet what caused the system to be activated in such way, but the most likely reason was an elevated traffic query that attempted to access our servers and therefore the protection cut off some of that traffic, including some of our players.

I hope I was able to explain properly what happened. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers!

This sounds like a flawed system to me. As an ex-sysadmin, I know about DDoS attacks oh too well. But the problem lies in the fact that blockdos.net should be able to filter out 'bad' packets being sent to your servers instead of blocking all traffic, in which results in your site taking 'collateral damage' as is the case here.

Blockdos does indeed claim to filter bad packets. However, it is entirely possible that normal traffic somehow got flagged as bad traffic... and do note that pbdave said "significantly slow" as opposed to "not accessible".

If you look at the graphic in the first post - that doesn't look at all like a 404. There is a good chance that is the page which is served by blockdos when it has determined that a packet was bad.

So yeah - flawed system - but probably for a different reason.

Hi ,

Cool follow up from you guys, thanks for that.

Like I said it was some 2 months ago, we are still testing the setup of the blockdos.net, but based on this issue we will check the configuration of the same to avoid having our players experiencing what was described originally.

We continually look for new, improved and better services to work with, and the DDoS protection is no exception. We will follow through with the results and continue to improve.

Thanks again!

We have worked closely with Pitbull Poker for a long time. You won't find a management team who is more dedicated to their players then Dave and the rest of the group at Pitbull.

So in essence what you saw was the system protection active to maintain the integrity and functionality of the site, however you possible were part of the sectio...blah blah

Damage control attempt? What about the rest of the people they robbed? Do they get their buy ins back too? Or maybe this guy can gather all the people that are complaining to this forum and 20 of them can attest to this.

Hi All,

Unfortunately we keep seeing users that attempt against our integrity in a malicious way.

To user "NewOrleans" I can only refer based on his member status:

Banned user - troll posts - multiple accounts

So, during the problem we had no player was "robbed" of his money. Any member of our poker community who experienced a problem and contacted us was taken care of by our Customer Support or myself.

If there is anyone who still has not resolved any pending issue related to the described situation please feel free to contact and I will follow through to resolve the matter.

Thank you.
