Wait a minute.....there are "private groups" and you need the "secret" handshake to ge in? Where are we high school? Obviously I've never been invited or I would have known....I thought this was a casino forum...if one wants something else wouldn't it be a good idea to take it "off site"? All for one, one for all, we all try to watch each others backs with the casinos out there......however, you can't belong to my group? For the love of Pete....clj...remember this (you can't lose something you never had) and it probably wasn't worth having in the first place

I never knew these groups were so important.
![]() I like talking to EVERYONE here, I was invited to a group but didn't want to be "lumped in" to a certain group. CLJ...you certainly don't need a group to have wonderful conversations through PMs/forum/emails.

FTR, I only thank people when I appreciate what they have said, or they answered a question or something like that. Not to gang up on anyone. I know people will say, hey its just a stupid club or whatever but that has nothing to do with the fact that you were hurt by the decision not to be let in. Plus you feel slighted because someone else delivered the news. Like some of the previous posters have said, its a great club with great people. There's nothing really private or secret about it though. No conspiracies to gang up on people, or to ban together to take over the forum topics. Really, its just a club. Someone once called me a mob member in a post because of being associated with this club. I thought, what the heck? I was not hurt, but perplexed at what people actually thought we were about. It was crazy IMO. So for the fact that you were hurt and felt Rambler was ganged up upon, I'm so sorry. To Rambler, I'm sorry you had to post this, but I'm glad you did.

Yeah it seems weird to me too. I joined the music lovers group when the groups first started and I posted once and haven't been back since - it's not really why I joined casinomeister and usually I have just enough free time to keep up on what's going on in the main forum. I didn't even know you could make your own group. That being said, I like Laurie and I'm (pretty) sure she's not up to anything nefarious. If you can't get into her group, then start your own. I'm gonna start my own group and not let ANYONE in...it'll be just me talking to myself. Like at home.

CJ, our club is not that exclusive, nor all that special. Like most families, we don't always agree on everything either. We don't know you personally, and the club made a decision that we are not currently accepting new members.
Usually a member will suggest someone who is a friend of theirs for inclusion and it is voted upon, not a request from someone to join us. This club is a social group, not a VIP group. We share a lot of personal information about our lives, our families and our health. It's not like we don't like you, we just don't know you. Also, no one in our group is a casino rep or (currently) an affiliate, so it's not like you get any special casino treatment by belonging. If you'd like to send me a friendship request, I would accept it. I also answer any PMs I receive. Sorry if your feelings were hurt, that was not our intention. That goes for you too Vegetagirl. It was the method of rejection of having to share personal information and voting among strangers for acceptance that is bothersome and makes one ponder. This whole weird experience personally reminded me of author Shirley Jackson's novel about a perverse lottery of sorts. The method in which you invited CLJ, asking probing questions of a personal nature, then having another member turn her down to the group was as childish as a Sorority/ Fraternity initiation. CLJ even got the Meister involved to re-think if private groups should continue to be allowed, if this childish behavior to get in your "click" continues, so kudos for stirring the forum up; especially in light of the very pertinent fact that my wife and I are avid on-line gamblers for nine years and know the ins and outs of the casinos. I wouldn't let her join your group if you paid us now. I just wanted the truth out that some in here speak out of both sides of their mouths and I feel most, like us, do not operate in that sort of lowbrow manner. Good day madame! P.S. A heartfelt Thank You for all that understood my point as I don't regularly post in here, just gamble for fun with our money; it is easier to side with groupies than to stand alone and expose what is going on with Private groups. We are such private people, none of you probably knew CLJ and I are married until now. In my opinion, their should be criteria/ rules in the future on how a person is accepted or rejected by any given group or open them up to all members in good standing (Private Groups). |

Just a small point Rambler...your wife asked to join us, we didn't invite her then decide not to admit her.
If you heard your neighbours were having a party, not a neighbourhood party, but a private house party, would you feel rejected if you knocked on the door and was told the party was by invitation only? If you wish to socialize with other forum members, start your own club and invite those who you wish. And my Canucks Corner group is open to all, feel free to join us there. We have a few honourary Canadians among our members. Also, to the best of my recollection, Laurie didn't share much personal information with us, I think the group decision was largely made without any. |
