    Suckered By My Own Naivety

This was my first experience with an online casino.

I made my very first deposit in an online casino (Bet365) recently, certain that with my "method", I would be making a withdrawal surely within a month. I was uberconfident because before signing up, I had practiced on the Jacks or Better Video Poker 'Free Play' game for over 2 weeks. I had perfected my extremely short session tactics- betting low (5 cent max bets) when the cards were cold and higher ($1-$5) when the cards were streaky. I would not accept any bonuses, because I didn't want any sneaky rules getting in the way of retrieving my windfall (LOL). In my mind, I'd already spent my superfluous winnings on Club Med and unnecessary cosmetic enhancements. (don't ask)

Before I joined, I was told in a 365'chat' session that the minimum bet in the 'Real Money' game would be 25cents - not 5 cents. Oh. O.K. ....So... I practiced some more, betting from 25cent max bets to $5 max bets. I still came out a winner on the "Free Play" game. I am a JOB demigod!

After another week to organise the deposit, (and practising and winning on the 'Free Play' game) I was ready. I logged in with major butterflies. Was I really gonna do this?
It seemed to take forever for the Jacks or Better (single hand) game to open. Yes.. there was my deposit. The denomination button read 25cents. Boldly, I clicked the plus button to increase my bet. 50 cents. I pressed again.... Huh? No $1 option. No $5 option. What?... This is not what I practised. This is not like the "Free Play" game! How could I not have asked what the 'maximum' bet would be? Stupid, Stupid Stupid!

Desperate now, I tried to download Jacks or Better (single hand) from the Downloadable Casino. Huh? The Megajacks progressive and the other video poker games would load. The slots would load. But the Jacks or Better game, the game that I had practised on, would NOT. Weird!! I chat with the friendly tech person and follow their instructions- reloading the software, restarting my computer. Nope.... this software does not want me to play single hand Jacks or Better.

But I had invested all this time and effort and was bound and determined to gamble.
I was Ashton Kutcher before the 2 1/2 men premier - full of anticipation and nerves.

Long story short: My 'method' is 'not so good' in the 'Real Money' 5 cent to 50cent game of JOB. I started to chase the big scores ( The scores I was getting on the free play game.) I needed my fix. Just one 4OK? Even a Full house would do?

    Notta One.

Then came Megajacks - the jackpot was over $2500- an 'advantage game' (Or so I had read on casinomeister. Yes, new gamblers do read this forum).
    I was all in.

    And the rest is history.

Not the history you want to brag about... but the history you want to retreat quietly into the recesses of your mind.

    Ashton, meet Charlie

So.... Well-played Bet365 and your "Free Play" Dream Machines. A tip-a-the hat to you.

    As for 5centmclue?

Yah... I'll change the name myself...

    Sincerely,

    0centsnoclue

I just have to ask this: Where do people play video poker online and vary their bets between 25 cents (per line) to $5 (per line) (between hands) (using their first deposit)?

Unibet casino JOB starts from €0.10 and goes up to €5.00 I thinks.

I don't play this game often but someone here who might play this game a lot will help you out, I'm sure. Good luck.

Edit: N.B. Limits for flash play version (don't know if its the same on download). Also the software is NetEnt which has a game timed out function. Which stops your current game after about an hour, you then have to reload a fresh game. Which might throw your master game plan out of kilter.

Welcome to Casinomeister, 5centmclue!!! Don't change your name just yet, luck is sure to catch up with you, if not tomorrow, maybe next month! Nice first post, by the way! I think all newbies have gone through the "Wow! I can make a living doing this!" when they started playing on a lucky day. But, many here will tell you they have made some money to fix up their home, go on vacation, buy this and that. Luck and timing can play a big part of gambling, and no one always has totally awful luck, even if it seems that way sometimes. Good Luck to you.

Welcome to online gambling 5cent. Bet365 is pretty reputable, so I guess you may have used up your luck in free play, lol.

http://wizardofodds.com/ offers stragtegy tables for a wide varitey of Video Pokers.

The house has an edge in all games, so the best we can hope to do is come out ahead in a session.

Other than follow perfect play, you can play to maximize your chance of the big win, something that favours the house in the long run.

If you stick with accredited casinos, so if you do win you get paid, and you don't spend more than you can afford to lose, you can have a lot of fun playing, with lots of losses and some cashouts.

There is no strategy that's going to beat the house long term.

Recently hit a straight flush on my first hand at Inetbet. Sometimes you are just lucky, othertimes not so much.
