    Question Blackjack or Roulette?

For the last several months I have mainly been playing a 'Live Dealer' version of Roulette that is offered from many of the online casinos. I have had my fair share of luck and also disappointment (losses!) but lately I have found myself more drawn towards the game of Blackjack - especially over the last few weeks.

I would like to get everyone's opinion on which game is more favourable for the player. I feel that with Blackjack there is more choice and in a way more control over what I do within a dealt hand. I can stand, hit, double down, etc. and depending what card the dealer has, this also has an outcome on my decision.

Now I look at Roulette - and I mainly think that I am hoping the ball does NOT land in one of the pockets that I have not bet on. I do not get as much enjoyment out of Roulette now and when I lost a spin or hand on this game I would get upset initially - where as with Blackjack the same emotion when I lose a hand is not there.

So which game do you prefer? Feel free to vote... if this poll or idea has been done to death here then I apologise in advance...

    Regards, Shaun (sticks1977)

That is a difficult question to answer because we need to know, more favourable in what way?

It's a bit like comparing chalk & cheese.
    There are some fixed factors:
BlackJack = low house edge (usually <1%) and low variance = typically more playing time for your money, but low chance of making a good profit.
Roulette = higher house edge (usually 2.7%) and high variance (if you're playing the numbers, and not just even-money shots) = typically less playing time for your money, but a better chance of making a good profit.

In the long run you will lose on both games, so it basically just comes down to which type of game you prefer to play, and whether you want longer play time, or a better chance of a short-term bigger wins.

    KK
(PS: I voted for BlackJack because the house-edge and temptation to go on "tilt" are lower).

    Hello again sticks1977...

I see you are determined to convert gambling into a profitable job. Hows all that working out for you as described in your thread here? http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/...tml#post443756

"Lately I have been using gambling as an alternative source of income to try and pay down on some debts that I have slowly managed to abuse over the last few years. I have been gambling online for roughly 12 months and have had some rotten moments of luck. The main problem I have had is resorting to credit cards to fund my balance in the online casino."

If I could make a business suggestion here.

If I were you, and since your unique idea requires a fair amount of capital and the initial start up costs are being financed by low interest credit cards, now would be a good time to apply and accumulate as many different cards with max credit lines as possible. Just in case things don't goes as planned early on, and you might default on your present monthly payments, this could possibly ruin your credit and prevent you from gaining access to needed capital. By obtaining additional cards now while your credit is still good, you would have the option to activate the credit card shuffle maneuver, and protect your access to capital. At the very least this maneuver could buy you some extended time (If needed) for your talents to prevail.

In addition did you ever consider as a side bet (investment) visiting a physic and have them give you your lucky numbers? You could try those numbers on roulette and also use them for the lottery. Hey, "ya never know"

Good luck with your new job / business investment.

I wish Blackjack was low variance! If the live dealer casinos deal deep enough you could count the cards and try and get a profit from that. But they usually deal slow and cut off half the shoe. You aren't going to get anywhere with that. And if they did deal a counter-favorable game you would be found out quite quickly and banned.

If you want to play with a lower house edge play Blackjack. But the variance is still pretty high. I have lost 12 hands in a row. I have also made $1200 in just a few hands (this is at a brick-and-mortar). So variance can still get you!
