    MG old/new games

Made my Monthly donation to MG to check out their new slots and exactly the same as usual. Boring beyond belief and run like a turd in treacle (with a multicore 3.6ghz CPU, 8mb RAM and state of the art graphics card)
Managed 600 spins without triggering the main bonus on either the Robot game or Hellboy. Hellboy was brutal beyond belief with endless dead spins.

Still I won't be back to play these again just to hit the bonus rounds as they are the usual generic waste of space (literally on my HD)
The secondary bonus in the robot game takes an eternity to begin and end with you simply making a selection and then getting a quick animation (or two) before your prize being awarded which is totally predictable after you hacve hit the round a couple of times - yawn.

Seriously I have played slots non stop for almost 48 hours before now and not been as bored as I was after 10 minutes of playing these games. Being slaughtered is just added insult to injury but even if I had won I would never play these slots again.

MG have fallen a long, long way in their standards in all areas over the past few Years (especially since the demise of the US market)
For all my frustrations with RTG as a platform and how the software operates (MG is now no different by the way - if it ever was) it now beats MG hands down. Sure don't get the bells and whistles that MG provide but that is more than made up for as it does not make your HD a slave to the casino for one and the games generally run much more smoothly compared to the jerkovision that MG now offers. Also the returns are at least comparable these days and new games are generally more fun.

By the way ever wondered why MG software runs so poorly now when it used to run smoothly even on much less powerful PC's? An algorithm too far?
My last win at an MG was rewarded by going over a Thousand spins the next session without a feature. One of those little recurring coincidences.

    Spot on Rusty.

RTG adds some creativity to its slots whereas as MG is soooo boring. Yes, the software also runs poorly so I have literally stopped playing their tourneys whereas I was playing them everyday about a year ago.

The new update DOES run slowly yes, UNTIL you minimise the casino. IF you minimise the casino the games return to their normal flawless speed. Dont ask me why but they do ive checked it on 3 pcs all of differing specs.

(you have to minimise every time you load a different slot up btw)

Minimising the casino does improve the speed but it's still slower than normal. At least on my pc. Furthermore, the graphics are so blurred you want to samash the damn thing.

Maybe so, but this is a sign of INCOMPETENT PROGRAMMING, and FAILURE to test properly before release to users.

If we did this at work, we would get a bollocking from the boss (and this happened to me once)* and further, would be expected to fix it, or roll back to the previous version, IMMEDIATELY, and I mean IMMEDIATELY, not "tomorrow", or "next week". It meant either leaving full instructions for doing this with operations, or coming in ourselves to do it, even at midnight on Sunday if necessary.

MGS seems to have the attitude "we'll fix it, when we can be arsed to do it"

With a DuoCore 3.6ghz CPU and matched to 8meg ram, that's got more than enough processing speed. With your graphics card this system should eat it up.

With the above specs I'm of the opinion there is a issue with the system and not the MGS updated software.

Some questions if you don't mind.

State of the art GPU (graphics card)...What card are you running?

    8meg of ram..Is this DDR2, DDR3?

When did you last do a HDD defrag?

When did you last updated your drivers for your GPU and other hardware?

Do you defrag and compact your registry? If so when?

What OS are you using - XP, Vista, Win 7?
Are you using the latest Update Patches?

Do you have all the eye candy switched on for your OS?
(this can affect the performance but generally on older PCs).

How many quick start programs do you have running? And how many processes are running in the background?

(If you using XP - do a Ctrl+Alt+Del that brings up the Windows Task Manager. Click the Processes Tab.)

    At the bottom you'll see....

    Processes: (what's the number?)
CPU Usage: (what's the % number?)
    Commit Charge: ???M/????M - what's these numbers?)

What Anti Virus program are you using?
Do you use a firewall, if so which one?
Do you use an anti spyware/malware program (if so which one)?

If you use any of these when was the last time you ran a complete scan on your PC?

If you can supply this info it gives me an idea as to what maybe causing your system slow down....

    Cheers

    Hi,
You don't need to minimize at all, just move your mouse cursor over the "X" exit button at the top right. My question is why can't I maximize the casino, When I click the maximize button, it maximizes for 1/2 a second, then snaps back to the original size.

I had the same issue. But this week I got my new PC which also included a 23" LG Full HD wide screen monitor.

Before I had a 19" non wide screen LCD. It was doing the same thing your experiencing now.

Apart from the tabs this software brings (among other things) it also includes compatibility for wide screen monitors.

That seems to have produced an issue for non wide screen users

Did MGS beta test this software? I doubt it. Or if they did they tested it on high end systems that all used wide screen monitors.

To fix the screen size issue...I changed my screen size to 800x600 and I also increased the sharpness on my video card options.

Started the casino software using this screen res. It fixed the issue. But it's a pain in the butt doing this every time you want to play.

    Cheers

For once Rusty my friend, I totally agree with you!
I played both these new "slots" this week - and to call the CRAP would be an insult to crap!
    They are diabolical beyond description.

Dont know what your both on about lol HellBoy is utterly awesome. Ive had 3 seriously big wins off this slot so far, all within the random pop up free spins. Best slot Mg has produced in years!
