I am an AOL member and run the free version of McAfee. I also have used AVG, the best free virus protection software. I also suggest Malwarebytes. Don't forget to run CC Cleaner often to fix registry errors and empty out all the junk on your computer!

    Best of luck to you.

    I gave up gambling,
Now all i ever do is make mind bets,
You never bet any real money you only bet in your mind.
The results are fairly good, ive only lost my mind 5 times so far this month

I'm using ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 (here). Don't know if the price is any better but it's not bloat-ware like NAV, which I had used for years and got sick of too.

Look up AVG, Avast, and Avira - all of them are quite good. I used AVG in the past but took it off my current setup because I'm running Windows 7 Beta and AVG isn't well-optimized for that yet.

It goes good my friend, how you been doing lately? Long time no see..

Petey, I have used AVG Free Edition for the past 4.5 yrs and have never had an issue with it or with getting any sort of virus...here is the download link if you want to check it out AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

Also you might want to add on another program too called Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can detect and remove malware that even the most well known anti-virus and anti-malware applications fail to detect.

And the final one I run each day is Advanced SystemCare Free it helps protect, optimize, clean, and repair your computer and Registry and it only takes about 3-5 minutes to run it each day but will help your system perform at its best.

Don't stay gone for so long around here buddy..

This one is very good - so much so that I finally upgraded to the Pro version. Don't run it every day but certainly a few times a month and it really makes a difference, particularly with the registry cleaning and optimization.

    The defragmenter is also excellent.

Yea, I totally agree Spear. I've been using it now for a little over a year I guess and I have really been impressed with it. I was also thinking about upgrading to the pro version too. How do you like it as compared to the free version? I mean, did you gain quite a few more optimizers or other classes of tools by upgrading?

I also run their defragmenter too..

Honestly, I can't recall what differences there were I'm sure some of the tools are only available when you upgrade, so that's probably the easiest way to find out - but the key tools I use, except for possibly registry defragment, should be available in the free edition.

In fact, I just ran it now... and webpages are already loading faster and smoother, and I didn't even run the Internet optimizer...

FYI, per the publisher diff between Advanced SystemCare Free and Pro: here.

Not too meaningful really, basically says "Pro is ++features".
