    being an affiliate

    Hiya Guys

Im sure the answer is somewhere in here but because of my disability, I am limited to the amount of time I spend at the PC. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere

Question: How does one become an affiliate and what does it mean. I see people talking about getting checks and Im not sure how it works or if it costs anything to become one

If one or two of you could explain in laymen terms what it means, I would be forever grateful!

    In laymen’s terms:

If you were to build a website offering information and articles etc about casinos and gambling (something that would interest your average casino player/user), you can then sign up as an affiliate to a casino program or poker room and essentially promote them. You can install links on you site to these programs and direct traffic (players) to your chosen casino programs, who would then pay the affiliate a percentage of the profits that player makes.

That is the basic version…there is a bit more to it than that. There are sites that can offer you lots of information and support about this. Take a look at CAP - Casino Affiliate Programs:

    www.casinoaffiliateprograms.com

    I hope this helps

It doesn't cost anything to become an affiliate but you do really need a website.
(Unless you have 10,000 e-mail addresses you can promote to! )

I don't know how much it costs where you are, but you should be able to get a site for under $100/year if you 'shop around'.
I'm a bit worried about your "time on the PC is limited" comment, as time is the one thing you need masses of - unless you are just going to make a "banner farm" site which is unlikely to give the results you want.

When I started my site last year I knew absolutely zero about web design, hosting, HTML or FTP's. I just learnt what I needed when I needed, and yet in just 6 short months I produced the finest gambling portal on the entire internet!

As a hobby it's brilliant, but don't bank on making a living from it. For all the 1000's of hours I've invested my return is pretty small - maybe $2-$3 per hour..?

Not trying to put you off, but just keep your expectations realistic.

It's also worth noting that if you're an american and decide to promote online casinos:

    1) Get a web host that isn't in the USA

    and

    2) Be prepared to wait for payments...the delays for USA players are pretty much the same for USA affiliates
Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...

I tried this as a hobby a while back, and the initial outlay is indeed quite small, however, you are up against hundreds, if not thousands, of sites also promoting the same brands.

If you have little time at the PC, you will need the help of some good "cut & paste" web design software, and possibly a helpful friend.
Once set up, it will virtually run itself as many affiliate programs are now using dynamic banners (which means not having to constantly update the site yourself each time the casino does something new).

There is a small matter of reputation (unless you don't care), and making the wrong impression at the outset can be hard to overcome. Never promote a "bad" casino just because it offers a fantastic affiliate deal, you will get a negative reputation as a "bad" affiliate. Never resort to SPAM, again you will feel the heat, especially on here.
Have some kind of quality control, so that you can keep up to date on major issues that impact the brands you advertise.
I feel that personally written reviews can help differentiate your site from others, this is why Casinomeister, Simmo & Kasino King have had their success.
My own site was aimed at a small niche in the market, UK Fruit Machine players, who were getting fed up with crap games at 70% payout. It has not exactly been a success, and one reason I have been told is that frutie players trust online casinos even less than they trust the Fruit Machines!

I had ONE player, stayed for a couple of months, lost the monthly bonus and didn't seem to return. I made a magnificent £18 It did at least cover the registration cost for the domain, however it now sees a small loss.
I plan to revamp my site soon & have another go (now that I know more).
I need to get Frutie Players interested again, especially since two of the "competition" have ceased to exist

As others have stated, being a casino affiliate involves promoting casinos. If players sign-up through your links and deposit, you may earn a commission. Commissions are usually a percentage of casino win (lifetime loss of referred players), or a fixed amount per sign-up.

You could be an affiliate with a budget of $0. Sites like http://www.pearlgaming.com/ offer everything you need to begin and basically make the site for you. However, the more typical approach is to get your own web host, which can cost <$10 month for a decent shared account, and then design your own website. You can find host info and other information about starting a website at www.webhostingtalk.com .

I suspect that most new affiliates make essentially nothing and soon give up. This is especially true for sites that do not offer unique content . However, a small portion of affiliates do very well.

If you are a player and know a lot about online gambling and want to earn a lot of money you may try this business. My very good friend played at different online casinos, he thought he could earn money there, but sometimes he lost, sometimes he won and it wasn't stable. So he decided to launch a website to promote online casinos. And it was one of the best idea
