This is what I thought in the first place. I think many players might visit this casino forum, and never register. However when they run in to trouble they are in a hurry to register and complain. Many times fully registered users have already chosen the venues where they play at, and thus have rarely something to complain.
Although new users can reply in the old threads, limiting freedom of speech can be an end of an well visited forum. Just to keep in mind.
You guys just don't get it. It has nothing to do with silencing anyone, it has everything to do with managing and ensuring that members are following the rules.
The forum rules are here for a reason, and most members follow them. Unfortunately, first time posters ignore these rules primarily when posting complaints for the first time. We must have a misunderstanding because I don't mind newbies posting complaints - I welcome it. But when 9 out of ten never bother to contact the casino rep, or PAB, or never post a follow-up then I find myself spending way too much time chasing these complaints down.
Vesuvio gave a good suggestion, and I considered it and implemented it. If you have a better solution - then please let everyone here know.
By the way, marcholmes was a fraudster, and that whole thread dealt with a bunch of fraudsters that hit up Bellerock. Piecar's complaint was a frivolous complaint. cbe2869's was a good complaint, but no less than six fraudsters joined the melee.
If you could search the complaint forum for threads started by newbies, the stats may show exactly why I implemented a bit of control over this section.
Like I said, this has nothing to do with freedom of speech - and I never said that I wouldn't allow a newbie to begin a thread if he or she asked me. Also, if a PAB is serious enough to warrant sending out a warning to anyone, you'll hear about it.Although new users can reply in the old threads, limiting freedom of speech can be an end of an well visited forum. Just to keep in mind.
I'm an easy person to work with, I don't appreciate it that you're trying to make me look like some a-hole.

I could give you a long list of things that IE7 screws up at work, from printing to Oracle database viewer. I am curious why you want blank pages? There is an extension that does it among other things, but I find that I usually want a new tab with some content in it, which is easily achieved by middle-clicking.

I'd have started the Bellerock thread if someone else hadn't - and whatever the merits of some of the complaints, Bellerock were shown to be lying on numerous occasions and the danger of third party organisations like Proccyber handling "risk management" was clear. The same problems have cropped up recently with Casino Action and the same pointless requests for notarised documents and the like.
I can't remember Piecar's exact complaint, but I remember that a large number of members thought the issues raised were important.
Sure, there were fraudsters on the Fortune Lounge thread, but again the overall issues were valid and these new posters helped give a better picture of FL's approach by providing e-mails and the like.
I prefer the compromise of allowing new posters to post but not to start threads as I do think that would almost certainly have enabled all of these issues to be raised. But I certainly don't think anyone who's unhappy about this change is attacking you personally. Your reasons are understandable and clear, but there's still a threat of lessening the effectiveness of the forum (it might not take much to push people to other sites like WOL).
I think there needs to be a clearer demarcation between the complaints you handle (through PAB) and the forum. You shouldn't be expected (and people shouldn't expect you) to deal with issues raised in threads if they're not accompanied by PABs.
I'm going to say something that may not be popular with anyone here, especially with Bryan and/or Simmo.
I have had the feeling for a few weeks now that the forum is out of control. There has been too much bickering, belittling, insulting and personal digs for my liking. I come here because it's comfortable, it's informative, sometimes fun...and it's professional. Simmo and Bryan are the only two people here who have the ability to monitor posts and posters, and they can't be here 24/7. Some of what has gone on has been initiated by newbies, but not all. There have been posts made by people who know better, but go ahead and do it anyway. And I'm not trying to preach, or come across as a hypocrite...because I know I've been guilty of it myself in the past. But I am actually considering using the "ignore" feature for the first time since I started coming here.
Simmo made a valid point in an above post re: the complaints section. There are some who will jump into a thread, whether the complaint is valid or not...just to post a nasty reply, and try and elicit a response. There are some who obviously thrive on this.
I think Bryan has found a good middle ground (using Vesuvio's suggestion), and if it helps him and Simmo keep control of this place...and allows Bryan more time to deal with valid complaints, then I'm all for it. And I guess it's up to you to either trust Bryan or not when he says he'll keep us posted if anything earth shattering comes through the PaB channel. I choose to trust his word. If it's important enough, we'll find out about it.
I understand exactly what he means when he says "protect the integrity of the forum". It has not been the most professional place of late, and not what Casinomeister (the site and the guy) is known for.
