    Casino Affiliation

I would really appreciate any participation in this poll and feedback with regards to the breakdown of this forums members that are regular posters. I am just curious how many members are players only or have some type of affiliate relationship with one or more casino groups. I know there are many casino reps that monitor and reply to issues here but they would not apply. Not saying there is any problem with being affiliated with the casino groups, just the opposite, most instances give the regular players some advocates, but I would like to know how this forum breaks down. The poll is anonymous of course, but feedback or comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Great idea for a poll "rtmlam."

I've also been curious about that very question for some time now.

What KK, you haven't made your first million yet? Tsk, tsk.....

I debated posting in this thread, because I don't ever want to be accused of being biased. I'm a player first and foremost, for over four years.

I am also an affiliate, but of a very few select casinos, and I mean a very few. I would only promote casinos that I personally have 100% confidence in, and that I also have some form of relationship with...enough of a relationship that should a player have a problem, then at least I have an avenue of recourse for them. Without having to send them here to get it resolved.

I would have no qualms about dropping and/or exposing a casino that had shady business practices or screwed legitimate players over, affiliate or not. That being said, I think the most important lesson that I have picked up here at Casinomeister since I've been a regular, is that for every evil casino, there is at least one or more evil players. Things are not always cut and dried, and just because you see a complaint posted about a casino, does not always mean they are in the wrong. You wouldn't believe some of the levels that players will stoop to, just as nasty as any casino. So keep in mind that you can't always take everything you read at face value, there may be more to a story. And a casino is held to a higher standard than a player when it comes to posting sensitive information, so you may not ever get the WHOLE story. I really can't stress that enough.

Okay, rant over.......well, ya asked, didn't ya?

    Nice thread!

I am a mug punter only.

But, I might become an affiliate. I have just started to design my own website. I have been reading HTML Complete before I go to bed every night to see if I can actually do this - lol. I do find it quite boring, but have already designed an off-line web page. It's very early days for me though.

I have absolutely no idea how much affiliates make, but I do read the affiliate's T&C's on most casino websites and it appears like they make something in the region of 30% of a player's revenue + sign up bonuses? Seems pretty good to me.

Name and number! 4737 Carling Sir.

I'm both. I started as a player around 3 years ago, decided I was spending too much and set up Oggs purely to try and offset some of the cost It's actually great fun, plus it turned out to be a great idea, but mainly because I'm a geek and I love just trying out new programming stuff and technologies, although I enjoy the research side too.

Affiliating is very competitive and it's a definate advantage if you have a technical background for sure. I think it's imperative that an affiliate is a player personally as you can only really know this game by playing it. When I look at what I know now compared to when I started I'm not surprised I made bog-all for 6 months - lol.

Affiliates have to be prepared to be loathed by some players - lol. Human nature really, I was the same when I started playing. But sites like Ted's ex-G2B and in particular the Meister convinced me that sites run by players could be really valuable. It's refreshing to see some honesty on reviews sites these days rather than all the standard promo junk and you can spot a player's site miles away. If I'm using affilaite sites to get new casinos to research, I usually go straight to sites run by the long-standing posters on this board 'cos I know they generally won't be promoting crap.

Anyway - it is an incredibly competitive business, but I'd be more than happy to help any regular players here who are considering it. I was thinking about writing up a "help guide" actually for a new casino knowledgebase I'm creating. I don't want to just start helping out every Tom Dick & Harry who sees it as a fast buck (it's definately not that), but if there are any long-standing players here who say have 500+ posts on Meister, by all means shout and I'll try and knock something up for you over the next couple of weeks.

I'd much rather see experienced players sharing their knowledge and benefitting from it than fly-by-nights. Also I think sites run by players are valuable resources for others getting into online casinos rather than the standard glossy review fodder churned out at a lot of places.

    Just shout.

    Cheers

    Simmo!

What effect has that had. Has everyone stopped gambling or do people still do it?
