    Locking threads

Is there a way to just lock out a person or persons rather than locking an entire thread?

For example on the inetbet nightmare thread there were a few people bickering and the whole thread is now locked. It is a very interesting thread and had many good comments and I am sure many more as people wait to see what is going to happen. To lock that thread stinks. Can we not just lock the few out that are derailing?
This goes for any thread as many seem to get locked.

Personally I felt that thread was coming to a dead end and bickering came in abundance whereas constructive suggestions were scarce. Nevertheless, you have a point here and locking/deleting the unnecessary posts may be a good idea. Each locked thread is justifiably ended but some people may get a feeling that this is a way to keep mouths shut. This may be the last thing on the mods' minds but who can blame the members for thinking so?

Specifically, for that thread, there were some unanswered questions especially the one on why it is necessary to provide info on how the op funded his MB account. Maybe I missed something but the casino didnt seem to have addressed it.

There is -- we can "thread ban" someone -- but in the case of the "inetbet Nightmare" thread the problems we much more widespread than one or two people, as Chu points out:

My understanding is that's precisely why Bryan closed it down: it was turning into Bickersville and we've had more than enough of that lately.

I rarely lock threads. It's usually when the issue is has been beaten to death, and there really is no reason to keep the discussion up, or it's become clouded by bickering and other nonsense that I'll close a thread. Sometimes it's because the topic has taken too many turns, and it has become difficult to manage so it's closed for administrative reasons.

I will usually give a reason why I'm closing a thread (unless it's totally obvious). And if members have issues with it, I always welcome input and suggestions. Sometimes we continue a more focused discussion elsewhere.

The bottom line is to keep the forum focused. If I'm a member and I'm trying to find information on a controversial bonus term, I don't want to wade through 20 pages of this and that. I want the meat, not the fat.

As for banning individual members from a thread, this can be done - but it's rare that we ever do this. This is Casinomeister not Nannymeister

If a repeat of this experience occurs, it will be best to start a new thread rather than add another case on the end of an already long thread. The locked thread can be referenced from the new thread to provide some background.

CM made a few recommendations to iNetBet for improving communications, and would not expect the same problems to just keep coming up again and again simply because iNetBet has ignored each and every one.

iNetBet need time to make and implement any changes, so nothing can improve this recent issue. Their shortcomings have already been punished as they have generated negative PR on the internet, which they now have to deal with. This may well cost them more than it would have cost to make improvements to communications in the first place, in addition to the fact that the issue could have lost them some potential new signups.

I agree that some threads need to be locked and put to an end. But, why do many threads that get locked and were started under the right heading get deported to the attic where most members won't find them?

Because once it goes pear-shaped, it goes into the attic. This is a forum for suggestions and where I make announcements. It's where we discuss aspects of the forum and even the main site. When members use it for ranting (it's a kangaroo court and there is a conspiracy here ) I let it have a go, and then chuck it into the Attic where ALL MEMBERS can easily find these threads.

Seems fair enough although I personally would prefer no bans at all as most are real characters and are interesting more times than not but all that aside, whats 'pear shaped' got to do with going to the attic please?
