Some of you are not paying attention to what you are doing when messaging members in the forum. PUBLIC MESSAGES CAN BE READ BY EVERYONE INCLUDING GOOGLE BOTS!!

Public Guestbook = public viewing

Some people are messaging casino reps with their user names, and other sensitive details. PLEASE USE THE PRIVATE MESSAGING FOR THIS SERVICE!!

This brings up a question that's been kicking around in my head for a while:

Is there any way to opt out of the Visitor Messages thing? Personally I find them nothing more than a PITA. If wishes were horses I'd like to disable them entirely, for my login that is. It would be great if you could simply ... oh, I just found the option to do exactly that:

Starting with the User CP:


Open the "Edit Options" page:


Scroll down past the mid point:


Voila! No pesky Visitor Messages.

FWIW, if you have "Visitor Messaging" enabled (the default) your Profile Page (what people see if they click on your user name) will look like this:



If disabled, then ...



The confusing bit is that "Visitor Messaging" is also your "Public Guestbook" or, as B was referring to it earlier your "Public Messages".
