I see tons of problems here:

    1. A player dies

    2. A player is ill

    3. A player ends up in jail

    4. A player is approached to collude, cheat or throw the game or otherwise intimidated

    5. Players can watch film or be coached during the wait

This is ridiculous. All it does is try to stop everyone from knowing the outcome. If it was that important it can be aired in the summer while WSOP fever is still hot.

I don't get it...why not just play the whole thing out as planned, show all of the tapes except for the final 9, and then wait to televise the final table 117 days later. Why in the world would they even consider waiting 117 before even playing the final table? Same results...

Harrah's is just running the WSOP into the ground....won't be long before the WPT takes complete control. Most of their tournaments pay out several million now too, and you don't have to wait for them to run once a year either.
Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...

The more I think about this the more it pisses me off. My husband is positively livid!
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

I think the idea of delaying it really sucks and Pokeraddict brought up some great points.

More money has to be the motivating factor for this stupid decision. They can hype it up more, sell more stuff, maybe they are even thinking that the can make some money from bets on who the winner(s) will be, also increase their advertising revenue for 4 more months. There are a lot of possiblities here for more revenue.

They already do this to some extent by not broadcasting the live event, so why not milk it for all it's worth, or all they can get out of it.

What else could the primary motive be???

Hopefully it will piss people off enough that it will backfire on them.
