Kill your Public Guestbook (aka Visitor Messaging)

The Public Guestbook aka Visitor Messaging feature is some people's apple and other people's PITA. Here's how to get rid of the thing if you happen to be among the latter:

Starting with the User CP:


Open the "Edit Options" page:


Scroll down past the mid point:


Voila! No pesky Visitor Messages.

FWIW, if you have "Visitor Messaging" enabled (the default) your Profile Page (what people see if they click on your user name) will look like this:



If disabled, then ...



The confusing bit is that "Visitor Messaging" is also your "Public Guestbook" or, as B was referring to it earlier your "Public Messages".
