If Italy beats Spain, as it surely will, you will be my next contender.

This sort of thing had to happen otherwise the bookies will face heavy losses especially since most of the favs went thru in the group stages.

I didnt watch yesterday's match but Russia was simply awesome in disposing of Sweden so despite the Orange's excellent performances earlier on, this result wasnt really of a big shock. With the recent shocks, I now opt for the reverse and think Spain will win over an obviously depleted Italy. It's high time for the Spanish to get a win over their Italian neighbours which they havent done so for a looong time.

Bookies do not take heavy losses. That is all you hear on TV. They just dont win as much. Simple math. Sure, they take heavy losses on their expected profits, that is all.

The only bookie I know who has taken a loss is him downstairs, a one man show who never hedged his bets. He has dissapeared, owing plenty. That is pretty uncommon but it happens

    Hi Gary,

Maybe I shouldnt have used the word 'heavy' but bookies tend to lose when favs especially for the Asian Handicap deliver and when a string of favs win, they string a series of successive small losses. This still happens when the hedge against the bets they receive. When Greece won in 2004, the Hong Kong Jockey Club recorded extraordinary profits and so the converse is also true. However, as things even out, the bookies always win.

The only excuse I can offer... well... I did support Italy in Italy-France match. Italian players were so much more handsome and sexy

    Germany 6 - 4
    Spain 13 - 8
    Russia 7 - 2
    Turkey 12 - 1

Its hard to bet against germany. I picked them from the start but they havent looked too good until the last round. Nothing unusual with germany, they always seem to get amongst it.

Watching the earlier games, spain looked the favorites but they are the opposite of germany and never seem to do anything. I would have given odds on italy beating them on penalties.

Russia have looked impressive all they way through the tourney.

Turkey have done well but I think they have done well to make the semi's.

I think Germany will take care of Turkey. I just think they will be too strong.

The Spain/Russia game is a different story. All in all, I thing spain have a stronger set of individual players but we saw how Italy could pacify them. I think russia will beat them with superior tactics and teamwork

Im going for a Germany/Russia final. I could see that going either way.
