Living in Canada and playing in USD

I live in Canada but I think all of my RTG and Playtech casino accounts are in USD as well as a bunch of the Microgaming casinos I play at. Imagine my surprise when I was browsing the PAB history and saw that in 2009 a player at GoWild was found in violation of currency terms or some such by being a Canadian player and playing in USD, they did a PAB and Max was in favor of the casino.

I find that really disturbing - I've NEVER had an issue with a casino pulling that currency issue between CAD and USD. As a matter of fact, I've actually had to close MG accounts that I opened in CAD and reopen new ones in USD so that I would be able to play the progressive jackpots and in one case to be able to even fund my account!

GoWild is MG, and they do offer CAD as a currency.

I've re-read their T&Cs this morning, couldn't find any mention of it there.

It may be under the bonus terms and conditions.

I have MG accounts in US dollars at some places, and CAD in others.

I've often seen terms that restrict you to playing in the currency of your country if it is offered. There are often prohibitions or huge penalties for using Pounds if you are not in the UK.

I always read every word of Terms and Conditions before depositing at a Casino, and usually all of them before joining for a free chip.

All of the RTGs that I currently play don't offer CAD, and I play in USD. I think at some of them Euros may have been an option since my currency is not supported. Buzzluck (RIP) did not take US players and euros was the only currency available, and I think there may be another RTG currently that only offers play in euros.

MG sign ups offer a drop down for your currency, and a drop-down for your country.

I think it's pretty shameful if the software can't catch this conflict and pop-up a denial. If they accepted a deposit in US funds, they should pay up. I would think reserving the right to pay the player in the currency of their country would be reasonable.

After all, they can do it when you don't enter your work number, or your DOB is not valid.

    No, Go Wild is Microgaming.
MG casinos generally have several currency options, while the majority of RTGs only work in $US.
Always seemed a bit odd to me...
