Casino games on your mobile phone/tablet?

Hi guys

So everyone in the industry has been talking up mobile recently and I've been umming and aahing over whether it's worth making a mobile version of one of my database sites. Then I saw the Casinomeister app thread started by Westland Bowl.

Just before iPhones hit the street, I downloaded some of the Spin3 games - Tombraider and co - and played on my Nokia N80 but, at that time, wifi connections were so bad it was frustrating. I also tried a poker app that was very good but small screen - well that and my combined low-threshold-of-boredom level where poker was concerned meant I didn't stick with it.

I'm interested to know what other casino players - or poker for that matter - think of playing "mobile". Would you, do you or will you do you think?

I'm still thinking for slots I'd rather wait til I got home and could play big-sreen, but tablets maybe a game-changer there?

I think it's more for a new type of people.. just like hardcore gamers don't care too much for mobile games.. I have a mobile section and it's quite popular.

Optimistic lol. Actually I think tablets hold the key but I don't really see those as "mobile devices" myself. They're not too much different to a Netbook in size. And they are just basically a computer that looks pretty but with less flexibility LOL.

I had to have my son program the silly thing for me, have my daughter show me how to answer the stupid thing and then end the conversation, my grandson had to show me how to take pictures with it. Does anyone know if it will do the dishes and laundry??? I just got an email from verizon telling me next year I'm going to have to change my plan/phone to a smartphone.Well, the phone may be smart but the owner sure ain't gonna be! What good is a phone if it's more intelligent than it's user????

I am on the big screen with beer in hand boat. Its my relaxation - and the thought of blowing $100 on the way home in in a lunchbreak doesn't feel right to me.

In my opinion the younger player (quick and dexterous of hand and more importantly keen of eye !) is more likely to develop this market, other than in-play betting on sports which I think will continue to gain in popularity in a more general sense.

The 'now' generation are far more technology savvy and adopt quickly in my experience. That said, I believe that tablets are likely to widen usage with their bigger viewing area and ease of operation.

There are some interesting new stats out on this from H2 Gambling Capital:

* Last year the mobile gambling market was valued at around Euro 2.22 billion.

* By 2015 the forecast is that it will have doubled that to reach Euro 5.4 billion, achieving a compound annual growth rate of 19.3 percent.

* At the end of last year the mobile gambling market accounted for 9.8 percent of interactive and 0.6 percent of gross gambling yield globally. Analysts are predicting conservatively that this will grow to 12.9 percent and 0.9 percent respectivelyby 2013.

* A major driving force in mobile gambling has been betting on racing, which accounts for almost 77 percent of global GGY, with the Japanese Racing Association (JRA) accounting for almost 57 percent of the global mobile gambling market in 2010. But over the next five years, the emphaisis will move to gaming and lottery activity due to player-friendly technology improvements.

* H2 reckons that at the end of that five year period betting will still account for 50.48 percent of the global mobile gambling market but casino gaming will have grabbed 39.82 percent of the action, and lottery activities 9.7 percent.

You only have to look at the impact of mobile gambling on the results of the major online gambling groups in Europe to see how this channel is gaining ground.
