It's like I don't actually need to get 3,4 or 5 symbols in a row to win. Free spin wins seem to clock up random amounts of money for no apparent reason and bonus games offer all large sums so far with no real indication of how or what I'm supposed to do in the first place.

Although it's nice that I'm winning, it's also quite unsettling being so detached from the action.

They are confusing at first, but they DO operate off normal pay-tables, just like slots on any other software.
But the main differences (which make them more fun & exciting for me) are:
    * On the older slots the reels don’t actually ‘spin’ – instead a ‘curtain’ covers each position which is revealed in a semi-random order. On some slots the reels don't even appear in straight lines!
    * The symbols pay anywhere on the win line, not just right to left, or left to right.
    * Some scatter symbols in view double the regular payouts, and are accumulative (1 scatter = x2, 2 = x4, 3 = x8…etc)
    * The scatters are also wild symbols on some slots.
    * Unlike most other softwares, the more scatters you get the bigger the prizes (MUCH bigger!)
    * Like with Video Poker, betting max coins and lines dramatically increases the multiplier of the top payout.
    * Most software writers seem to think they have to make an even number of win lines (eg: 20, 30 etc.), this gives non-symmetrical patterns. GV are more sensible – here you will find 7, 9, 11, 15, 17, 21 & 27 line slots!

I just love it, and I'm mystified why it's not more popular.

This I noticed straight away. I was playing Break the Bank (or something like that?) - playing 21 lines @ 10c per line. Won over $150. Good times

I voted for other - lately I've been finding Intercasino (Cryptologic/Wagerlogic) has been giving me the best play time.

Microgaming and Playtech are about tied for second, and with RTG I can only seem to win or get decent play time on free chips lately.

Have to say I'm a little surprised at the results so far!
I was kinda expecting MG to be number 1 - but not by such a big margin, and there's some good softwares there with very low scores.
I guess this is because not everyone has tried all the different softwares... maybe I'll have to do a poll about that too!

    As of March 30th:
    Code:
    3Dice 3 7.69%
    Grand Virtual 1 2.56%
    MicroGaming 22 56.41%
    Net Entertainment 1 2.56%
    Playtech 2 5.13%
    Rival 0 0%
    RTG 7 17.95%
    Vegas Technologies 0 0%
    WagerWorks 1 2.56%
    Other 2 5.13%

Agree KK, it has probably something to do that not everybody has tried all the diff softwares.

Another thing is that polls like this tends to make people vote for their "favorite" provider.

I'm not saying that MG is not a worthy winner. But one should take considerations for any deviations.

Yeah, you should do a poll about how many different providers members have tried

I decided to venture into the world of providers other than MG. I was disappointed at the results I got for the deposits I made. MG IMPO is head and shoulders above other softwares with regards to play time. They have a huge variety of games from 9 lines to 50 lines and you can hop between slots easily.

I had a punt on Crypto, RTG, 3dice and Rival - Not my cuppa tea. Didn't get much 'value for money'.

I have tried NetEnt and Virgin (Mixed Games) - They have the capability for more playtime than the above in my opinion.

If you want to low roll - Mg has a few slots on which this can be acheived. $10 can buy you alot of play time.

If we are only talking about slots I do the best on MG, RTG would be the runner-up. Crypto is not my cup of tea, especially due to their fixed coin sizes, i.e. on a 9-line slot I can bet $2.25 or $9, nothing in between. NetEnt is not yet there, and some of their recent slots showing serious similarity to slots from other providers does not make them look good in my eyes.

I'm having some difficulty is answering this poll. I find that the playtime I get depends more on me and my choice of games and betsize than the software. Bonuses I take can affect this as well.

Playtech offers quite low variance slots, as well as some high variance ones. I find I usually get a lot of play at NetEnt, at least partly because where I play offers a weekend cashback if I lose.

3Dice slots don't always offer a lot of playtime, but if you factor in all the free tournaments, I get a heck of a lot of play there.

MG fruities are quite interactive, so a $10 deposit can last quite a while at minimum bets with them at times, more so than 9cent spins on Thunderstruck for example.

Many RTG operators offer quite large phantom match bonuses, with correspondingly high WR. I guess if I just low-rolled them I might get longer playtime, but I think the way to beat them is to make at least medium sized bets, at least in the beginning. A bad session with no features can eat any size bankroll quite quickly.

Given that 70% of my play at Playtech is on the 8 reel slots, for me it's the choice for a $20 deposit if I just want to play for a long time. Bet365 has quite good comps for play, and you can redeem just $1, so even a small deposit often generates a few points on the games I play there.
