Question How do online casinos work?

I often wonder how online casinos work?
Say you walk into a B&M Casino and go and play a machine, for this example we'll call it 'Dolphin Treasure' There are say 30 machines in a row and you can have your pick of any machine. So you pick a machine and go and sit down and play. You are playing an entirely different machine with entirely different RTP for that specific machine compared to the machine next to it even though they are identical machines/games

My question would be does it work similar online? Say i go and play 'Dolphin Treasure' online am I playing a single machine on my computer or is everyone on the casino that happens to be playing 'dolphin Treasure' at that point in time playing together on the one machine? Are the machines a separate entity per user due them having downloaded a client side casino or are they one 'BIG' machine where everyone sits and plays(due to it all going to a central server)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have always wondered the dynamic of an online casino compared to a B&M Casino.

    Cheers

I doubt all players gameplay effect yours on the same game. At the riverboat casinos I love playing those 3 line triple 7 type $1 denomination games with 1k+ progreessive thats easy to win. Theres always people watching those games for players who lose a lot so they can jump in for their chance to hit eithr a easy 100/200/300credits or progressives for $1 games at 1k-2k, average 1000-1200 because they hit so easy.

Went off topic a bit, but i know other members here have some solid knowledge on the design of the online slot games, but im sure they are always random, for you, for everyone on the same game. Random jackpots are also based on your gameplay not others. If Im wrong please correct me

Not a stupid question at all!

Although impossible to prove beyond all possible doubt, the general consensus of opinion is that the vast majority of machines at the vast majority of casinos operate totally independently.
Let's take Microgaming's Thunderstruck as an example. This is a true random video slot, which means the result of each spin is created totally at random for each player, without any influence from previous wins or losses by either you, or anyone else playing the game at the same time, or in the past.
So although the casino software and RNG are all housed on one server, each player is essentially playing their own machine in isolation.

That is an interesting question and although I really truly hope KK is correct in his statement of random play I also think it could lead to a very good thread. Anyone? Thanks Gremmyboy.
