I'd say that would fall under the 'good things in the forum' category really! I know it may sound daft but a decent website makes a big difference to me. You see so many shocking sites out there and people continue to sign up. If a company investing six figures into an internet business cannot spend money on their front end of the operation then they're not worth the risk. Cowboys who don't intend on building a brand or a reputation do this if you ask me

Whenever there is a new USA casino allowed it prompts my interest as there are limited options for us. So software was a choice of mine. I'm still a sucker for a good sign up bonus though

I'd need to dig it out but I remember signup bonuses won although I thnk there were less options and it was geared up more to the type of promos on offer.

Interesting Simmo thanks. Hadn't even realized how much I've changed since the beginning when I played every new casino because I could. If I could get there I played it. LOL I kept such good records too, (binders full) of everything about each one. I'm gonna empty those drawers out now. need the space. what a casino glutton I was.

It's interesting to me that information portals have such an impressive influence (59.57 percent polled thus far) in the decision whether or not to play at a new casino.

In that respect this poll echoes other industry surveys that have shown the growing value players place on reliable information portals like Casinomeister.

I remember being surprised some years ago when Trent University, commissioned by eCOGRA, conducted that massive international study of some 11 000 or more players and came up with a figure of 44 percent (I think it was) respondents frequenting online gambling information portals.

I guess it makes sense that as an online gambler becomes more experienced he or she seeks the information and common-interest value of joining a good forum and exchanging views on issues and venues.

I've always been frustrated that we have not yet found a way to reach newbie internet gamblers to extol the virtues of research and shared experiences available in forums - it could save so many of them from bad initial encounters with crappy online operators...and deny business to said operators in the process.

I was surprised at myself for clicking on the forum information box.lol It's official, I was a free chip whore in the beginning. :lolsign: But not anymore I've seen the light but I am afraid Jetset that there isn't much you can do for a lot of the newbies until they too mature a little.

Good point chayton for variety Is the spice of life so they say.
(I lost my deposits so fast the other night I could not believe it. It reminded me of an old horse I use to ride years ago where I'd be ducking tree branches one minute and the next on my ass in the middle of the stream going wth??) Maybe if a casino guaranteed us longer play for our buck, but then that would ruin the 'random' thing wouldn't it. [rolleyes]

I must say I love welcome bonuses..so no deposit, free play, free spins are important.
More than that I like few platforms..IGT slots, Wagerworks, MG...and I will love to try WMS slots..but only UK players are allowed.

Depends on your definition of "actively"...

I have never closed an account at any casino, so technically they are all still "active" (if the casino hasn't closed down!)
I typically play at 5 or 6 each month, but not very often all the same 5 or 6 as I jump about depending on the bonuses on offer. Most months I sign-up to 2 or 3 new ones; I did 3 in Jan, 4 in Feb, and 2 already in March, but of those 9 I have only deposited & played at 3 so far.

No. I prefer to use $US even though I live in the UK, because that is the currency of my Neteller account which dates back to when there wasn't much choice!
For quite a few European casinos, I use Euros and MoneyBookers.
I only use £UK in a few UK based casinos and WagerWorks ones.

Oki, I have mostly used Betsson, Betsafe and Centrebet. I think it's confusing to use many different casinos. But you probably have a good system

Webmasters should take account the audience this particular poll was aimed at. The majority of CM members are a well informed and savvy lot who understand the power of information.

Taking this into account, it's not much of a shocker that portals are doing so well in the poll, and it would be interesting to cast the net a little wider here.

I'd be happy to include a quick survey link in my next mailer to players with a copy of Simmos Poll. This way we can get the same feedback from players who may or may not be active in the forums for comparison.

Well, if casinos looked after their existing players, rather than giving all the best offers to NEW ones, then maybe the "churn" rate would be less.

KK does NOT just go after the welcome bonuses, he also plays where the loyalty bonuses are worth having.

It seems casinos are far too quick to "bonus ban" their existing players, yet these same players are welcomed with open arms, and decent welcome offers, by the new casinos they haven't tried. Unless a player is "bonus banned" EVERYWHERE, they can move their custom in search of the best deal. Given that almost all casinos market with bonuses, this essentially means a search for the best bonuses.

In common with 99% of businesses, loyalty is PUNISHED, rather than being rewarded, and the modern customer has been taught to continually re-evaluate their "service provider" to see if taking their custom elsewhere will get them a better deal. In many cases, it DOES.

I frequently try out new casinos. What I mostly do is to investigate about a certain casino site, reviews about it, and the games it offer, and then write something about it. I only try out new casino site when I feel and I am in the mood, and also if I see a reasonable and good match up bonus. Well, as the poll says, it's like good match up bonus is what most players want.

As an affiliate manager of a casino site, this info is welcomed as we try and provide better bonuses to new players, and especially the addition of the fact that the room should maintain good deals for existing players (which I'm sure everyone can agree with).

Hi all.

It took me a little while, but I have the results of sharing that poll here too. Not too many surprises in the differences. The 'no deposit bonus' did a lot better, but that's probably down to the fact we ran one a while ago and a high % of the players who responded to the survey may have received one.

'Things I read on a forum' actually did better than I expected (I added 'heard from a friend') but this was still almost 20% below the CasinoMeister result.

'Something else' did twice as well, but like an idiot I did not ask for a section where they could type in what the something else actually was. D'oh.

Did any other reps send this out to see what results they get? if not... it's never too late
