The new lobby has vastly increased the size of MG casinos. Most files are shared in a common folder, and this is what is showing as 7.5Gbytes. Things are only going to get worse though, and AussieDave posted a while back that a mere MONTHLY UPDATE blew his MONTHLY download cap. Whilst hard drives have no trouble with this amount of data, internet connections DO. The problem is that players ARE NOT TOLD how much bandwidth is going to be used, and thus end up violating download caps & fair use terms without knowing why. This leads either to huge bills, or throttling of the connection.
MGS are not user friendly in this respect, the user has no power to configure the software to take account of their own ISP's restrictions. There is also the matter of the constant and seemingly unnecessary re-downloading of EXISTING games without notice, which could mean a 7.5Gbyte usage could be quickly followed by ANOTHER huge bandwidth usage.
Even here in the UK, there are STILL broadband services with caps as little as 2Gbytes per month, and there is no way such users can EVER play MGS, as the updates alone would exceed their cap every month. Other services come with 40Gbytes a month, often considered "unlimited" by the ISP's when quoted in advertising, yet a small suite of MGS casinos are now in danger of blowing even this level of cap.
Thunderstruck II ALONE is reported to be in excess of 1 Gig, and this is ONE GAME. New slot games such as this are likely to be similar in size, and every month sees 2-3 new games released.
