The buck stops at Government. They should not be allowed to advertise unless they have been approved by the government of the country they advertise in. This has come as a surprise to me since South Africa were supposedly introducing tough regulation for online casinos, there was even rumour of requiring PLAYERS to get some kind of license to be allowed to play online.

The UK government ONLY allow casinos based within the EU, and approved whitelisted territories, to advertise on ANY internal media, be that TV, radio, magazines, newspapers. This cuts out most of the rogues.

I agree. Complicated issue here though. Regulated casinos (land based) are not allowed to advertise gambling or entice gambling in South Africa. Since African Palace (Rogue) and Silversands (Rogue) are not licenced and regulated by the National Gambling Board, they are exempt from this rule. After this story was publicised on TV, it was quite ironic to see another African Palace advert aired immediately after the insert. Silversands are also advertising aggressively on TV.

I wish that something can be done to limit the air time they receive. It is obvious to me that the issue is not being dealt with. In any event, the greater South African public are unaware that Gambling Online is illegal. If indeed it is illegal, i would be interested to see how they regulate it and how they actually prove that a person has been gaming online. Records are one thing, however, id assume that you would have to be caught in the act of wagering a bet online in order to be prosecuted... Any thoughts?

Lol, tell me about it. The show uncovers alot of con artists... Some excellent stories... If you are one of the tourists aiming at visiting SA during the world cup, you can gather alot of information about the country from the program..

umfortunately, what i hear from my african friends, of which one has a seat in a certain government, is that the majority of government officials, actually don't care, and that money is really a very good argument, if provided in large enough sums.
simple case of being on the take.
and this goes through the whole hierarchy: from small time burocrats to policemen, and like said before, government officials.
that being said, it still is very hard to legally get a hold of criminals like those cruise-scammers, cause they operate purely through fakes, where as the specific casino, that was in the clip, has been located: this i feel should be a case for some international watchdog, which probably doesnt even exist yet, or doesnt have the needed jurisdiction yet
sad, but a good warning for all of us.
