Even though this was two years ago....

... It makes me even more queasy when I email all the required ID docs that casinos request. And it also reinforced my resolve to never, ever, ever use a credit card at an online casino, or allow any access to my primary (household) bank account(s) to ANY online casino or web wallet.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

Those are great suggestions! Please do keep in mind the security measures you mentioned shouldn't only be applied online.

People think the internet is somehow less secure than 'real life', but that is not necessarily the case. There are 1000's of stories of information being stolen in all types of situations. Just go on Google and search: cashier stole credit card information

I have a bank account I use for my own personal banking, but that is not the same one I use for my savings. I also try to use e-wallets so as to minimize the number of places my CC is handled. And in real life I pay in cash instead of with my CC if I'm in a place I don't trust.

    Kind Regards,

Hi zebedy. I am Costarican so I can only speak from a Costarican's point of view, experience and circumstance.

Here in Costa Rica there are plenty of call centers of all sorts. You get customer service and tech support for IBM, Hewlett Packard, Sykes, Amazon, etc... also there are sportbooks, online casinos, collection agencies, surveyors, telemarketing, etc... it makes no difference to a clerk wether he does customer service for Amazon or becomes an online casino rep.

There are also plenty of scams (never last long and always get caught). I know of a place that used to do scams with sweepstakes. Usually these types of places get shut down after a couple weeks. They are mostly interested in making leads (getting potential's customers all possible contact info) to sell them to other people (which is a felony)

The security measures that companies take differ from company to company. There are places who take very good security measures such as requesting a criminal record and refferences by previous employers.

In regards to clerks stealing company information... it all depends on that particular clerk's morals. An amoral person could do just about anything to get what he wants regardless of any consequences or implications that his actions may have (including legal or illegal practices). Naturally there are security measures taken by each companies security staff. Cameras are there in most of these companies and security staff is always paying attention to what the clerks do.
