Play for Fun v/s Real Money

Hi all.. my first post here so I'll take the opportunity to say thanks for what seems to be a really great site..

Fairly new at the world of casinos, but have a burning interest in playing Black Jack. Have played quite bit in fun mode, and a couple of times in Real mode... I have learned to use the basic strategy according to Professor Thorpe's book, and am amazed at how well it works.

A couple of questions come to my mind tho, and I am thinking that this forum may be a good place to get some advice...

    1. Seems to me that it's very easy to earn huge amounts of money when playing in Fun Mode, but as soon as I do it Live, it's a very different game. Could it be that the software is set differently for fun v/s Live? Kind of a trick to make you think your startegy works, and then when you do it live your money is gone in no time at all?

    2. Let's say I get really good at the game, and consistently manage to make my account grow. How does the casino managers react to this? Will they bar me from playing if I do too good, or how do they protect themselves if someone is winning big. Is the solution to play at many different casinos and take a little here and there rather than at one place?

    Happy Gaming,

    Mag

The short answer is: No-one knows. At least, no-one from any of the reputable software companies will admit their fun mode is any different to real. They all claim it is the same.
I personally have never seen any solid evidence which proves it is different.

Casinos have the right to ban anyone they like without having to give a reason. No problem - just go to a different casino!

But please keep your feet on the ground; millions of people have been trying for decades (centuries?) to beat games with a house edge - so far no one has succeeded, and casinos across the world have not gone bust due to players winning too much.
What do you think your chances are of discovering the "Holy Grail" system that no-one else has already tried?

Hiya: Welcome. KK said it right. Everyone can play for fun, and use $1 chips, and $25 chips, and then $100, and record thousands of results to see if they are all the same. But Who could afford to try this with Real money?

Also, about getting banned for winning. Yes a Casino has a right to do this. But it comes down to maybe doing more harm than good. If you never take a bonus, and are lucky, and win a lot of money, and the casino just locks you out, what happens? Most of us would cry like a baby all over the internet, and the Casino ends up on the defensive, and losses customers.

Also, when a casino ask you to leave, and not come back, they have given up on getting their lost money back. With the Odd's in their favor, this is really hard to do. They want/need you to keep playing, so the Odd's catch up to you, and they get the Profit that the math says they are suppose to get. That can not happen if they bann you.

Oki... thanks. That is all good advice. I would assume then that my feelings about Fun v/s Real might just be psychologically based... when playing for real I probably chicken out and stray away from the strategy...
