    Question about online bonuses?????

Hope I posted this in the right forum...

I have a question about all these ridicules bonuses that are offered from online casinos. They are no doubt obviously being offered as a marketing tool to get players to play at their casinos, in the hopes of retaining new players. I’m not a fan of these bonuses that usually come with ridicules play through requirements and most with a max cash-out rule. Although, when I’m looking for a new casino to play at, I always accept these bonuses in order to give myself a chance to sample their goods without losing to much of my own cash, before I might decide to pull the plug. I’d also like to add that while playing with these bonuses I’m always in fear that I’m going to hit some crazy big jackpot and only be able to cash out a fraction of it due to bonus rules. If I like what I see after a couple of bonus deposits, I will then only make non-bonus deposits.

My question is this… Let’s say for example that $100,000.00 dollars was deposited to a casino that offered a 100% match bonus, which of course would total to $200,000.00 dollars that would be wagered. Let’s also say that all this money was wagered on one game that had a progressive jackpot. That would mean that $100,000.00 dollars of non deposited cash was used to build the progressive jackpot, or 50% of that jackpot was created by bonus money. Whatever percentage of that money went towards the jackpot, eventually in time would equate to millions being paid out as a result of the bonuses given when the jackpot is hit.

If a player hits a $20,000.00 dollar progressive jackpot, and was not on a bonus and is entitled to the whole pay-out, how and where do the online casinos compensate for that? On the other hand if a player hit’s a progressive jackpot for the same $20,000.00 dollars, but was playing with a bonus that had a max cash out of only $1,000.00 dollars, what happens to the other $19,000.00 dollars?

Reputable casinos will put the $19,000 back in the progressive 'pot'.
There have been quite a few instances reported here where this was done; a few of the good RTGs and Irish Luck are just some of them.

Some of the dodgy RTGs and Playtechs are reliably reported to have pocketed the cash themselves, forced players to stick to a $4,000/month payout (and then dick them around), or offered the player a small fraction of the jackpot in one lump sum as a final settlement...

BTW I love bonuses and always use them. So far 8 straight years profiting using them - long may they continue!

Where or how do I go about finding this information to read about it?

Still does not explain how they compensate for jackpots created with bonus money.

You probably belong in the Guinness book of world records. I wish you continued success.

Maybe my questions in op should be directed to a casino rep...

I don't think 4 of a kind meant just one person depositing $100,000, but hundreds of players combined deposits.

I can't answer the question either, but I guess the bonus chips are seen by the casino as real cash and it just comes off their bottom line.
I would imagine bonus chips are just seen as an overhead, like advertising for example; they could spend $100,000 on advertising their casino and not get any sign-ups, or give 1,000 people $100 'free' and have 1,000 guaranteed sign-ups.

    I'm just speculating!

I thought it was real obvious what I meant. Maybe you should read a whole post before you express your stupidity.

You might be right KK, but I'd really like to know the actual facts.

Ah, Steve might have misinterpreted your post. Let's not get too personal.

When casinos give out bonuses, I believe that they should shoulder the effects of a larger bankroll for the player ie if you deposit $100 with a 100% match bonus, you are armed with $200 to hit the JP. I would think that whether it was real money or bonuses that built the JP it makes no difference since they all contribute the same % to the JP. If suppose you bet $3 per spin and $0.10 is contributed to the JP, it makes no difference as to whether these come wholly or partially from bonus funds or not. In theory, every spin made should contribute exactly the same % to the pool. How much a casino will pay out depends on the individual Terms and Conditions if a bonus was taken.

Nevertheless, casino reps might wish to enlighten us on this one.

Some casinos prohibit playing progressives with bonuses. Not all bonuses are the same, many deposit bonuses do NOT have any max cashouts attached, others, especially Rival of late from what I've been reading, do have max cashouts attached.

There are so many platforms and so many casinos it would be hard to generalize.

I think the high rollover required of bonus play usually compensates for the additional bankroll the player receives. Most bonuses have some kind of limit to how much they will match, i.e. no casino I play at offers an unlimited match bonus, although most, other than 32Red's $32 monthly are higher than my normal deposits. I know that at 32Red, progressive slot play, while not prohibited with normal bonuses, does not count towards fulfilling the playthrough requirements.

At Vegas Real Casino we don't allow players to use bonuses on Progressive jackpots because of the very reasons you mentioned.

And as KK mentioned, if a reputable casino allows progressive's to be played on free money, then they generally give the pot back to the pot, which will be eventually won by a paying player. As Chuchu59 pointed out, other casinos should give the entire amount to the player, regardless of the max cashout. It will depend on the individual casino's and bonuses's T&Cs. The casinos reputation will also come into play here... better casinos will be sure to do the right thing for paying customers, bad casinos will only take care of themselves.

About the percentage of money that goes towards the jackpot in your $100k example, that would be something that needs to be sorted between the operator and the software provider. Generally, operators have to pay the fees on the $100k in bonuses that go into the jackpot total.

I hope that helps clear things up.

    Kind Regards,
