    Question on WR

    Hypothetical situation:

I accept a bonus with a 20x playthrough No problem..I play until I am tired and switch to Video Poker and win 1000 (royal flush) OR BJ..I know what I play here does not count towards the playthrough but can I go back to slots and play in order to meet the requirements?(of couse using the 1000 bucks won on VP)
Is this allowed or is it bonus abuse?

Bonus abuse IMO, fair and square

    It depends on the casino.
Some will 'let' you play anything as long as you wager the correct amount on approved games and some will void your winnings if you play any games that aren't allowed before you fulfill the wagering requirements. Make sure the T&C statements are clear and you understand them so you don't run afoul of their rules. If the terms are ambiguous, either ask them or play elsewhere. I hate rogue casinos that act improperly, but I hate it even more when a 'rogue' player doesn't follow the rules and then makes an unwarranted complaint (not you, just in general since it can hurt a casino's reputation even if they don't deserve it).

For sure you need to look at the terms and conditions of each casino.

For example, with our casinos it works like this - When you deposit and take a bonus, those amounts attach together, and only once you meet the wagering requirements, can you cashout. Also, if you switch to play a restricted game whilst you still have that wagering requirement on your account, those winnings would be void, and even if you later meet the requirements of the bonus by playing allowed games, those winnings from restricted games would still be void!

So, stay away from the restricted games whilst you still have a playthrough on your account!

Just a heads up from me

I agree with you Simmo, but if the casino allows it (in writing), then it's okay.

Most of the time though, if a player 'abuses' a bonus it's simply because the casino wasn't smart enough to create the right bonus

LOL. Now that is a good point!

Disclaimer: I don't know why, but I am in a ranting mood tonight

If casinos will use bonuses to attract punters, then they will attract a good deal of the "wrong sort of punter". You make your bed...etc. Conversely, a punter who goes looking to abuse a bonus in this way simply adds another brick to the wall that the casinos keep building to protect themselves. Doesn't bother me because I don't take signup bonuses, but one day the signup bonus will self-destruct. Probably at around the 200x D&B, slots-play-only mark!

It's simply the fact that the wrong model was used successfully and no one can afford to be the first one to eliminate it (the deposit bonuses, that is).

Your motivation with a WR bonus is to complete the WR. It doesn't give any incentive to continue to play once the WR have been met. That's the primary shortcoming of the way (most) casinos promote their businesses at the moment.

My advise would not be to get a bonus at all, avoid them at all costs, its just a hassle having to fulfill the WR and in the meantime while playing the allowed games you'll probably lose a lot more than you win.

For instance, BK is a good way to go, but they only have 1/3 of the WR, so it would take you three times aslong to complete the WR.

I know its personal taste obviously, and there will be some who take up bonuses, but in my experience, humble as that is, bonuses leave you playing slots and arcade games, which, I've found, are more luck based and you can't have any strategy to help you along, like in BJ.

    Anyway, just my opinion.

    Dan
