New MG slot Star appeal review

Why do MG bother throwing this crap at us, they must really hate us.

This slot has graphics blander than a Panda's diet and will give you dark circles around your eyes it so tiresomely boring.

There are no snappy sound effects or catchy music to liven things up either.
The game-play is generic of every other free spin slot except the reels spin slower just to add to the monotony.

In fact I think it is a new tactic by MG to put its players into a vegetative state while these new slots quietly and routinely take our money.

I was almost asleep before I realised I had gone nearly 200 spins without anything happening whatsoever other than the very occasional small win that added up to less than 30% payback.

To cap things off there is a bug in the new games that means you can not access the cashier without first closing the game off.

    Score 2/10

MG stop wasting our time and innovate!

I was going to give this one a try earlier today - but I played the new (Un)Lucky News Network first & I didn't fancy the thought of puking twice in the same day...

    Great review!

    Great review!
I was lucky enough to play lucky news network on a free chip, i have to agree kk it was rubbish.

Where i did ok on star appeal, but i did get the most out off it from picking cash prizes off the bonus picks.

I would of given lucky news network 5/10 at least the graphics are slightly more interesting(though not exciting) and there are a few more bells and whistles.

Jas and Pina can I ask you what you like about the new slot, have I missed something?
Why would you play this instead of one of the other free spin/pickem games for example?
Sure I would prefer the slot if I won but I am reviewing the game not the returns.
My opinion is no better than yours but I am just curious.

I don't see the point of clones and rehashed tired game-play ideas being released every Month.
There are almost limitless ways you can make a slot exciting and it seems MG try to ignore them all when designing (hah! that suggests some originality) their new games.

    Tsk tsk Rusty,

You are asking members of the fairer sex whether they like Star Appeal for goodness sake. How would you expect them to reply?

    LOL Chu...

Honestly Rusty, I can't give you an answer, other than to say the graphics appealed to me. And there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to what catches my fancy.

Just as you stated, they are basically all clones, with the only difference being the "pretty" pics incorporated into them. I am totally enraptured by the bells in Kathmandu, yet it is the simplest of slots. Thor still has his moments. The Osbournes is brilliant, both graphics wise and bonus rounds. As to Star Appeal, it's simple and I liked that. I think I've said this before...one of my fav games is Cash Clams, an old three liner. There is something about the purple in those clams that draws me, lol. And really, isn't that what these game designers try and do? To draw us in with colours and graphics?

Generally speaking, for myself, the simpler a game is....the better. I like free spins and multipliers, the more the merrier. Games like TR2 Secret of the Sword, hold zero appeal for me. I don't want an adventure, I just want to spin a slot and get lots of bonus rounds. I want mindless entertainment.

I also played for quite a while on this slot, and got some decent bonus rounds and line hits. I've only played it once, so that could all change, lol.

I'm sure none of this makes sense...but hey, you asked.

No no, why do WE bother playing? I for one am at the verge of serving a huge FU to the whole MG corporation! I know some of you are pretty boored listening to my payout percentage for my sessions, however i did another session today.

    Session stats click here.

Overall session was 53.438% payout in 565 spins! Atleast I used to get 75%'ish payout... That also includes 2 bonus features.

Well I suppose I should of realised we are all not the same and it is purely subjective in many ways what we like and don't like.
My main objection though is that it gives us nothing new.

You are right though a game can be simple and enjoyable, my favourite is Cleopatra's Gold and that is pretty basic in every sense but that said I if I wanted to play another game I would rather it had different game-play mechanics.
As long as there is a market out there for MG to keep doing the same and keep production costs down then I guess people who side with your opinion will be happy and those that side with mine not so.
    Thats life Baby.
