    newb question re:progressive slots

How come the jackpot of a progressive slot at any given casino running the same software is the same amount? Say for example right now Tunzamunni is at about $102k on several different MG casinos that are run by different groups (companies)? When someone hits it do they all have to kick in part of the winnings?

Im pretty sure the huge progressives at MG's are for all of the MG's and that is why they can get so big. Just like the progressives at real casinos for wheel of fortune are.

Im pretty sure thats it, not positive

Hmm makes sense.. as far as that 1:zillion jackpot payment I guess a portion of every bet on that game goes into a big inter-casino (intra?) pool and thats what progressives are... seems obvious now that i think about it. Thanks for the reply!

Because they run on a "wide-area progressive network" the same as the large progressives do that you see in a land based casino...

That's right - at least for MG, Crypto & Rival (I assume).

I'm not sure about Playtech (?), but at RTG's most progressives are specific to one casino or group. However, they have the ability to link several different slots together within that group to make the jackpots rise faster & get bigger. The huge problem with RTG's though, is that your progressive winnings are subject to their ridiculous maximum cash-out per week/month rules
