    MG Jackpot Thermometer

The Microgaming Casino Lobby features a Jackpot Thermometer ranging from 80 to 999 for each game. The reading indicates the last time a jackpot was won.

The formula is 80 + (the last time a jackpot was won/average time between jackpots) * 100. A high number indicates the jackpot hasn't been won in a while a low number indicates a recent jackpot win.

    So the question is:

Would you play a game with a high reading deducing that the game is due?

    or:

Would you play a game with a low reading deducing that the game is paying?

The Thermometer is non-sense just to suck players in.

    imo, it's pretty useless

But, if I had to choose, I'd rather play a slot that's low on the scale.

I also think its pretty useless, on two occassions in recent times times on two "ready" slots ive gone over 700 spins without even a bouus let alone a JP :P, machines in question were Thunderstuck (can believe it can happen but still savage) and little chief big cash (disgusting, should never happen. gave me £17 return from a 700 £1.25 bets when it did hit feature) so id say that scale is not very usefull, i play the slots i like to play really, jut because its maxed on the scale dosent mean ill play it if i dont like the look of it, ie 5 liners

Its irrelevant for non-progressive games but for progressives it can at least be interesting. More useful are the stats recorded by sites like www.slotcharts.com

the thing you have to remember is that the thermometer is basing the jackpot at MAX COINS....take bars & stripes for example...the jp is 50,000 coins, but you have to play max coins to get it.

that's exactly why it's useless. someone could be hitting the max line payout, but not hit the "jackpot."

Imagine if they gave you some useful information like the slots payout percentage over the last Month/Year, imagine that, it would be like they actually believe we are not all simpletons who are just there to be treated like cash cows.

One Day, it is said, a casino manager shall be born with a soul, a warm heart that beats and be made as other Men and so shall be hailed throughout the lands of Ciberspace .
For this manager shall see their clients as valued customers and so it will come to pass their following shall return time and time again unto their temple and the flock shall graze upon baron lands not knowing of the fertile pastures new.
The managers following will be known as the Loyal Ones and shall have gifts showered upon them in return for their sacred devotion.
The Temple shall stand for many Millennia as testament to the managers doctrine that all need not be wicked in Cyberland.
One Day this shall come to pass.

    What?

    It's a totally meaningless gimmick.
But these things work! It's just like when the UK or Euro lottery is a mega roll-over - loads of people rush out & buy extra tickets.... Why FFS, WHY?

The 'thermometer' does not indicate the chances of winning at all.

BTW, does anyone know if these 'thermometers' are linked across all MG casinos - or independent to each?

I don't normally take much notice of them, but I did see the other day that the Cashapillar one (at Ladbrokes I think...?) had dropped from nearly the max to nearly the min, which, if what someone posted above is true, means someone hit the 3.82 billion to 1 jackpot!
    Smile, it may never happen...

    gimmick

Of course its a gimmick IMHO.and kk is right people do look at this and go wow thermometer is at 900 this MUST be guranteed to pay me the jp..alas NO... and what he says is also correct when people buying lottery tickets falls for a few weeks what better way to get everyone back in the mood than to have a rollover or if that dosent work a double rollover then you get bombarded with tv ads telling you how u can spend the 10m+ that your bound to win huh.NOT..the one gimmick i hate on casinos is the advertising that goes mr/mrs from suh n such just won £2k or £4k or whatever wouldnt it be great to see them advertising this

cant see that happening right enuff

Or Mr/Mrs won $20,000 playing X, but spent $100,000 to win it.
