    Decision time

I was just wondering how most "first time" players signed up with an online casino?

Did you just Google "online casino" and play at the first site that tickled your fancy or did you do some more in-depth research?

    hi

Think it really depends where your from...first casino i signed up with was ladbrokes only reason being theyre a huge company in the uk and knew it would be a safe bet ..i wouldnt necessarily search google for a casno to play id look for sites like this to make a good decision where to spend your £/$

I can not remember who my first online Casino was but it was a name I recognised from the UK already.
Would make an interesting poll question though.
It amazes me that places like Absolute can still be generating new business, surely people would not play there if they did even a little research.
Seems you are a bit smarter though Ixian, since you are here

My first was Casino on Net. I'm not even sure if that's still around. I remember depositing there then looking around for a US based casino since that's where I live and closer to home was better if I had issues. I didn't realize there weren't any lol.

Then I found FREE Chips. I tried them all and found I like micro casinos. That's where I deposit a lot now. Sometimes some of us freebie hunters really do end up being real depositers.

    William hills for casino games.

I dont recall how I went with them first. Its a high street brand in the UK, so easy to find and I figured it would be reliable.

I was a bit of a bonus whore regarding sportbooks. Every saturday I used a different site to put on my football coupon. I was off nightshift so It saved me rushing to the bookies, unshaven and hair everywhere & I got a free bet every week.

For poker, it would have been pokerroom. I was spammed and started playing the twice daily freerolls, if I could. I was on a dialup with a slow PC. It was amazing to play poker against people from other countries.

    All started around 2000.

Yeah, Im vague over the pokerrom think. I said twice daily freerolls but it might not have been as many at the time. I just got really excited when I got entered. It used to take me about 5 min to click register and actually register. What a buzz when I got in.

A good question! I'm not actually 100% sure which was first because I didn't keep logs for my first 4 months online (2001), but I think it was William Hills, although it could have been the now defunct Alps casino.
I definitely found all my early ones using a search engine because I had no idea that sites like this one even existed.
Other early ones were Grand Online, Roman, and Windows. I also discovered Intercasino at a very early stage.

I didn't even know the word 'rogue' casino until 4-years after I started, when I first discovered CasinoMeister. In those 4 years I did unknowingly sign up to some dodgy places, but I have to say I did always get my withdrawals paid to me, though some were a bit like getting blood out of a stone!

Since discovering CM I've always stuck to his accredited list, or done my own research first. These days I only play at and recommend on my sites the most reputable casinos.

Unfortunately the rogues will always prosper IMO due to the vast majority of new players not knowing about trustworthy gambling portals, spam mail (which must be working otherwise they would stop doing it), and the ridiculously big bonus offers rogues make (which blind new players from the small print of the T&C's).

    Unhappy First Casino_Lasseters

I do remember this like it was yesterday! Had been a "lurker" @ WOL for little over a year starting around 1999. Started posting; asking questions, the usual "tell me more" about what I need to know before I give some unknown entity my cc #. (Max: this was before you were using your Kif from Futurama pic; I really think you should have been Zap Brannigan!)

Lasster's had a $10 no string attached free play (ah...those were the days too!) listed on a WOL banner. Got some great advice from some of the old regular WOL folks. First deposit was in June 2001; played there regularly until they had to stop taking US players

I really had a lot of luck there; was able to put in 10 new windows, a new central a/c & heating system and remodel a bathroom and kitchen in my 75 year old house.

I played a couple of times a week; no deposit over $75.00; was usually about $35

    I miss Lasseters...............
