It's all about self discipline and control...really hard not to keep playing, but if you set a limit and say you'll stop at say $400 after you've won $500, then you sort of get the best of both worlds.

What bothers me the most is. Lets say im up $642 and decides that im gonna spin a few more times. Even though i have it set in my mind that im gonna cashout ahead. If I manage to lose and cashout at $500. The fact that I was at $642 and lost $142 bothers the hell out of me. I've learned not to reverse. But that $142 sure does bug me for a few moments.

Hmmmm, I'm confused BigJ. In another post today you talk about gamblock and attending G.A. meetings. Is that where you learned how not to reverse withdrawals? I'm just sayin.

Definitely human nature especialy for those that enjoy a challenge..

I am on that stay away from computer time and it works wonders...Today is my first day on my home laptop in 5 days...and I haven't spent a dime...(I usually pop in from work during this time off period)

I think that the brain goes into a mode that says "do it" "do it", it's right around the corner...one more time..one more bet, or one more spin and it's like it's not real....it's the challenge that makes us continue I think...

So I have learned that once my small bankroll is gone...I stay away till the next deposit is allowed on my budget...

If I double up or hit my limit of wins...I cash out half..save the rest for another day to play..It has worked wonders for me..

Until that little gremlin jumps on my shoulder (the "stupid" hits as you say Laurie) and makes me lose the rest of my winnings I had left...but then after being mad, I know I have a nice chunk already cashed out..and I have learned NOT to touch it till the next deposit is allowed for my budget...

It works for me..but you have to find a way to shake that gremlin off your shoulder and stick to it..you will be so much happier with yourself...good luck!
Today is the Tomorrow, you thought about Yesterday...so live as IT IS your last tomorrow!

Let's put it like this..........if I had all the $'s that I've won and if I had used that little button that is so hard to find sometimes, oh yeah it's called the cashout button .......well I'd have me a nice tidy little sum and I'd definitely be ahead a whole lot for the year, but we all chase that elusive bigger win to a certain extent.

On the serious side I think that the chase is why we like it and what gets us into trouble. It's the thrill of the chase and it's almost as much of a high as the satisfaction that comes when we catch what we are chasing. Only the satisfaction doesn't last long, we are off to chase it again. Best Scenario is we are able to be satisfied when we reach a limit that we have set for ourselves, be it a losing or winning limit. If you continually can't stay within the limit then it's time for a little re-evaluation and hey I'll admit it...... I've had a few of those evaluations with myself from time to time. It's a difficult line not to cross.

    Playing Stupid

Yes, I used to play stupid some times. I had a real issue with cashing out when I was way ahead, I used to bet bigger and bigger. Sometimes I would hit something huge, but most of the time I wouldn't. I say used to because I don't gamble online right now. American, and afraid of the deposit and cashout nonsense.
