    Antivir

Antivir is a free software that I have used for years without having any trouble.

Scanning test results are mostly as good as every payed program.

click on "download your free antivir" and then choose the "Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus " edition.

    Me too.
I have Norton on my PC, but antivir on my laptop (which I use online daily) and I've never had any problems at all.
    (Touch wood).
The only annoying thing is the daily pop-up trying to get you to buy one of their more advanced products - but since it's free, what do you expect?
    Definitely recommend it.

I use AVG. Their free spyware has to be run manually tho, and does not offer blocker.
But the anti-virus has automatic updates, and has kept me safe.
