linux is fun. makes me feel like a rebelling hacker/programmer. but really, it's amusing to go into a terminal and bash out commands to do stuff, like the old days (young folks are so spoiled these days...command line, wha? analogue clock, wha?). to not be a slave to windows is quite liberating, as is the freedom to manipulate your system to do exactly what you want it to without a lot of crap you don't require.
that's what i look at linux ideally as. in practice, however, i'm encountering some obstacles and feeling apprehension. i'm scared i'm going to break my system bashing around in it, and i find some tasks that were "two-clicks" easy in windows to be cumbersome and frustrating in xandros linux. overall i feel positively, and i think if i spend a couple months playing in linux that i will feel like a cool pro with a pimped out system.
do you guys know the eeepc? it's mad cool-looking because of its compact size. it's like the smart car of laptops. literally two of them side by side would fit in the same footprint as my 15.4" lappy. so far i have mostly cosmetic mods on it; penguin-face "start" button and igloo icon for "my computer" are my favourites. because linux is teh pwnxx0rrz and i am 1337 hackxn1zzl3 !
i'm going to start a new thread i think... or a blog or a group...
