I don't believe that there is any such intention in issuing informative releases on new game releases - it is rather, as I think Zoozie commented, that all the mechanics and odds calculations may be a super-abundance of information for the average slot player, and therefore superfluous in a marketing sense, where the objective is principally to announce the game's arrival and describe it in general terms.

But the point is taken that if the maximum achievable winnings are mentioned in the release without going into more detail on the odds etc, then it may be a better idea not to mention these at all.

The point I am trying to make is that imo the objective of a [marketing] release is not to provide an in-depth study of the game, but to announce its arrival and describe it in broad terms that will appeal to all players.
Yes, maybe a poor choice of words in respect to the fact that I used an example of "Single Deck Blackjack Paying 6 To 5" rather than simply a press release introducing a new slot. I should have transitioned my comments to what you suggest in the 3rd paragraph above (assuming you are a neutral 3rd party journalist).....If you were an employee of or a contracted PR firm representing the company releasing the slot then the intent to portray the slot by marketing only the optimal may possibly be considered as a form of misrepresentation. This is marketing and would not be unexpected for most industries and/or products......I just think gambling is easier to point a finger at as it is based on deception otherwise why do we play (or for those few just entertained) games with a known negative expectation....I think as a 3rd party journalist, you have the expertise to determine and meet your objectives such that you convey the subject press releases fairly in the best interest of all parties.... FTR, the above said, my comments that you take issue with were not directed at you personally although I can understand how one may perceive that.

Nope - I didn't perceive it that way either! I simply do not believe that the marketers at the diverse providers set out to deceive players in announcing and describing new games.

Regarding your suggestion that the media should add the sort of analytical and expert input we've been discussing here to balance the marketing content, I don't see that happening with the majority of media or the webmasters.

For example I certainly do not have the sort of statistical and odds expertise that the likes of, say, Zoozie has which would enable me to immediately analyse and dissect new games as these are announced and still maintain the immediacy of news reportage.

That field remains, as it has always done, under the expert wings of guys like the Wizard of Odds, Zoozie et al for those players who are interested in using this information to best advantage.

all I said was Maybe that's what people want to see now.
    What's the BIG deal?
If KK never posted it I would never quoted it.
And this is way worse than what I said.

I'm guessing there is maybe 50 or 60 on each reel. If so, then the odds of hitting a screen full of wilds are enormous.

There is only one position for the wilds to cover all reels so on a 50 symbol per reel slot the odds would be 312,500,000/1 to hit a screen full of wilds.

If is has 60 symbols per reel then the odds would be 777,600,000/1
Think it is probably less symbols per reel.I had a heart stopping moment
when it dropped all wilds on reels 1,2 and 3 and 4 wilds on reel 5.
The symbols on reel 4 were rubbish and it paid around £200 on 1p 100 line
play. Nice game but free spins are few and far between and its probably best to take it and run if you get a decent wins as it can suck all straight back.

BingoT, I've already asked you to avoid derailing this thread with your personal and irrelevant personal comments. Grateful if you would oblige.

If you have something personal you want to say to me, I suggest you use the PM system.

Both bingot and jetset contribute a lot of helpful info into these posts. Was thinking on lines of a group hug but not real sure if that would help

I agree, although I think a citation should be added on such articles to keep the peace and to avoid further argument. There was a recent incident which could have been avoided with a simple citation.

That is all - No argument.

    Copying and Pasting Text

This is often a temptation, as it may underscore a point that you may be trying to make. Aspects to consider if you are about to copy and paste something into your post:

    * Do you own the rights to that text - in other words, have you written it yourself or are you effectively stealing it from another site?
    * Is it really relevant to your post?
    * Does it complement your own words or are you simply using someone else's words to make your point, while adding very little value of you own?
    * Does it contain any complex formatting which might end up making a mess when you try to put it in your post (tables, etc.)?
    * Is the text excessively long, or have you taken only the relevant sections?
    * Have you, or do you intend to acknowledge the source of the information?
    * If quoting an email, have you ensured that you have protected the privacy of the sender? If you have reason to believe that they might not approve of you posting their private email, have you asked their permission?

Why is copying and pasting entire blocks of text from other sites wrong?

In addition to the points above many people are not aware of the following issues when copying and pasting text:

    * Copying without permission often equates to copyright theft. Someone else has developed that content. In the past successful prosecutions have been brought against the operators of forums for the behaviour of their members.
    * Search engines such as Google discover duplicate content and effectively devalue that information in their rankings. This potentially hurts both this forum and the original author. The extent of this is the subject of debate, but an article can be found here. [searchenginejournal.com]
    * Large blocks of text waste screen real-estate, causing the user to become frustrated at having to scroll through something they may not find interesting. In a large thread with many replies this can become tiresome.

That's it - I have reached my level of frustration here with this thread being continually derailed with irrelevant material. As it is unlikely that it will be retrieved as a useful discussion I am done with it.
