Dear Frank,

I have recently come across an online casino which offers a variety of zero house edge games.

Below are the zero house edge games which they offer:

Zero Roulette - removed the zero from the wheel, which means you get true odds on every bet.
Zero Baccarat - reduced the commission on the banker bet to 2.75 per cent
Zero Blackjack - pay out 2 - 1 for a suited natural Blackjack and a five-card 21.
Zero Jacks or Better - With a Royal Flush payout 22 per cent higher (Payout for a Royal Flush on zero Jacks or Better with 5 coins is 4880 compared to 4000 of the normal casino payouts.)
My first question is, now that the unforgiving house advantage has been removed from these games, is there any way of beating these games in the long run by applying various betting strategies, bet spread, money management rules, etc.? Or would the end result just be a no win-no lose situation, i.e. a push?

Second, since many or all of the methods and advantage plays brought forth by every gaming author is to minimize the house edge, or in the case of card-counting, to create just a slight edge for the player, wouldn't the introduction of these zero edge games magnify the outcomes brought of those strategies? Or would it make these strategies pointless since we don't even have to fight the house edge?

Even with a zero house edge no betting strategy, money management system, etc., can make it a positive game. Your expectation is to push over the long haul with the casino.

However, the real advantage-play methods will work much better on a zero-house-edge game than on one where the house has an edge. I made sure that I didn't publicize the site because my guess is that they are going to get hit hard by advantage players looking to win a load of money.

Rant (constructive criticism):
I thought the zero roulette sounded like an excellent idea - and it is!
So off I went & deposited 50 quid to give it a spin. Was I disappointed? Yes!

First off the graphics are crap; the wheel is too small and spins way too fast to see the numbers clearly. The actual ball animation is poor. I can't imagine that the graphic artist has ever even seen a real roulette wheel in action!

But that's not the worst of it; I looked at the bottom of the screen & was delighted to see 10p & 50p chips. "Oh good" I thought "Sensible roulette!". So I placed a number of 10p chips around the table, making sure I met the £2 table minimum & hit 'spin'. It didn't spin - instead an error message said "have not met £1 min on some spots. After a while of gradually increasing bets I realised that this actually means it will not accept ANY bets ANYWHERE on the table which are under £1. Which cretin came up with that ridiculous rule? And why have 10p & 50p chips if you can't use them?

Finally, the table limit is £50. A £50 limit with £1 chips? If it is zero edge over the long run and "Roulette can not be beaten" - why such a low limit? What are you afraid of?

Sorry, but this game is shyte. Make it sensible (small bets/higher limit) and entertaining (nice graphics) and maybe people will want to play it.

On betvoyager.com there's a roulette with no zero on it, and you can bet from 1 all the way to 1000 Euro on red or black. I always put 1.10 on red and 1,00 black, and following Martingale's strategy won 300 Euro this way during the last two weeks. Who says equal odds games aren't profitable?

Martingale strategy is not profitable when you have a non-infinite bankroll. Eventually, you'll have enough sequential losses that you'll be betting your full bankroll. And if you lose that bet...

Zero house edge was a great idea.

It can be beat, if they offer bonuses on these games but Im sure the sites will have excluded them from their playthroughs.

As aka says, the streaks will kill anyone following the martingale strategy eventually.

Zero house edge is great for players and great for the sites IMO. Most people dont play to optimum strategy. I dont no if there is any issue with bots but either way, the player can expect to break even so it is only taking up bandwith.

Players will move on to other areas and sites will profit. Players play over their bankroll and usually go bust even with the 50/50 chance.

I think its good all round. Players have a better chance of cashing out but the sites still make more through an increase in traffic. I like the idea
