    Strange email from/about Maxima Casino

    I just got this fro tracyn@ezonlinemedia.com :
    Dear Casino Guest,

Due to management and financial problems within the company, MAXIMA Casino is facing bankruptcy.

We ask you to STOP making further deposits in MAXIMA Casino, as well as withdraw your existing balance immediately.

    We apologize for the inconvience,
    Maxima Casino Support
Why would Maxima ask its customers not to deposit? Couldn't they block deposits if they wanted to? Would a casino ever announce that it's 'facing bankcruptcy'? Or could this be coming from some disgruntled affiliate or customer who has appropriated Maxima's mailing list? If that's the case, then it's a mightily aggressive attack.

Their combined house edge via the games and the random usage of FU clause "we don't like how you play so we'll steal ur winnings" makes sure they come out on top. I wouldn't declare Maxima Casino near bankrupt at all.

It wouldn't be surpising that one of their angry affiliaters/partners/customers is behind this e-mail spam. The e-mail didnt contain the casino username, so I am 95% sure that it's not from Maxima.

In any case, any money deposited at Maxima casino is in moderate risk even though they probably aren't facing bankruptcy.

    They just started sending these:

We have been informed that someone is trying to damage reputation of THE MAXIMA casino by sending a spam email telling that we have a management and financial problems. We are sure that most of you are aware we are still operational without any problems for nearly 5 years and we have no intention to stop. Therefore we are kindly asking you to disregard the email you received or any other emails regarding THE MAXIMA casino that are not sent from our email addresses.

Please be advised that we have full backup from our software provider ‘PlayTech’ and shortly official letter issued by them will be sent to you in order to see that the email you previously received is indeed a scam. Such It is a rather "dirty job" some are trying to do to many casinos and is very important for you to remain calm and rest assure we will take care of it.

At the same time we would like to thank you for your trust and loyalty. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please do no hesitate to contact our friendly support department and they will gladly assist you.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dan F.

Maxima confirmed it's a hoax, although they don't explain how the person got hold of their mailing list.

In the meantime I received another message similar to the first one, this time in what appears to be Italian. From 'Andres Hicks' (return email : andreshicksuu@gmail.com):
Le vorremo informare che dopo aver eseguito il controllo annuale del Maxima Casino, abbiamo stabilito che direzione e liquidita finanziaria della societa Amixam BV non sono sodisfacenti. Il rischio del crollo finanziario e molto elevato.
Percio La pregiamo di non fare piu depositi e di prelevare saldo intero del vostro conto del casino!

In marketing, this is a tactic to promote brand awareness.

Agreed! This whole thing could have been set up by them deliberately.
From what I've heard, they are such cowboys they would stoop to anything - even the old maxim(a) "any publicity is good publicity"!

Either that or it was some player they really pissed off by stealing from them.

Yep, that would be very worrying.

Clearly despite their protestations, they aren't safe and secure, because their entire email database has been compromised.

This isn't this first time this has happened to online casinos.

I don't know, I am playing with Maxima a while now and everything seems to be ok. Email was probably really just a spam attack...

Yesterday I received my withdrawal, the support was very friendly as always, i haggled for a nice deposit offer and I got some free bonuses, so I think they are doing quite well

I think that affilliates should also be reviewed more harshly from time to time, I've been getting an awful lot of spam mail from them, even if I already made a deposit. This spam attack was maybe really from some afiliate, but I don't know what they are bitc**n about, they earn quite a lot due to the fact they don't actually do anything...

Maxima will stay my prefered choice in the future...
