what do you like to play most?
i'm interested to know how many slot junkies are here compared to card players or sports bettors. poll time!
which do you play the most of? options are: -slots -video poker -blackjack -other table games (all casino games apart from above) -poker (vs others, not the casino variants) -sports betting i think i should allow multiple answers for this, but try to keep it to two (or three if it's really tough to choose second fave) so the poll shows a good gauge of what people are actually out there playing. ![]() feel free to post as well as vote if you've anything to say. shit i should've maybe included bingo, just post a shout-out if you're a bingo junkie!

that's cool that you like all games in small doses or when a certain game fanices you. myself, i like backgammon a lot (i wasted t_b and always finish about even with swede when we play). backgammon is a very old game, and i'm currently reading a huge book on gambling, and how those that couldn't compete in athletics often resorted to simulating races (as backgammon is) and other contests using lots and dice, depending on chance/fate/fortune instead of physical prowess. backgammon and chess (and probably mahjongg although i'm not too familiar with it) have elements of skill where one can prevail with greater competency in the game.
side note: i love phil laak. he's half irish which makes him quite funny and unusually lucky, and he's just great to watch and hear about. i like his comments on the show "beyond the felt", he's just a great personality. and hansen i like too, for his quirkiness and attitude. both are former backgammon pros. hansen reminds me of a monkey, especially because he chows on bananas while playing poker, and his shaved head making his ears look huge. and cuz he's always acting wild and crazy. back to gambling, i feel like i have a better chance to win at bj and vp, slots just seem too random and mindless (and house edgy) to me. poker and sports betting can give you more of a knowledge or skill advantage, but i don't have the discipline to play smartly at either. quite interesting, the phenomenon of betting at games ruled predominantly by chance. fascinating stuff. that's why i made this poll, and i hope people will ring in with their reasons for playing what and how they do. i'm anxious to see what develops.

HGB<
You are right that I play almost all games especially since my upbringing is a mixture of western and asian cultures so I also play traditional Chinese games plus horse racing that was introduced by the British here. What you could be wrong is that I play most of them in big doses. When I am online, I cant take more than 4 hours playing but its a completely different story when I do the real thing especially with some friends. Gambing stints for 20-30 hours at Paigow tiles and Mahjong were not uncommon but I am getting more fatigued now due to my age so I have cut back on them and play some games online. I also enjoy betting on horse racing so for 4 days every week my eyes are glued to the TV sets for the Hong Kong and Macau races. This thread is mainly about slots and after you have played a bit you know that you are bound to lose unless you play with at least a 50% bonus and a WR about 12 to 15 times and grind them out hoping to at least withdraw your deposit. This is too boring for me, however and the only slots that have given me decent wins are Zany Zebra and Jackpot (Express?) at MG and Fruit Mania at Playtech. VP is much better as they give you value for money and while you dont hit a Str. Flush or a RF too often, the 4OAK do crop up regularly although your eyes may be blurred with black and red images after a lengthy session. If you are aiming to play a slot that gives you back a good payout ratio try skulls duggery. The thing with this slot is that it doesnt go cold for too long and you do hit something once in a while. Others will go cold for ages although when there are hot, your fingers burn. Hope this helps, HGB. |

thanks again chuch, by small doses i just meant you like a taste of everything. we all go on a bender every so often lol. i hope this doesn't become just about slots, but i'm guessing maybe 75% of the peeps here are slots players, just trying to see if that's accurate, and what comes in second to slots.
i think asia is very interesting, i would like to visit all the different cultures there, to see what it's all about. i worked with a filipino, who talked about gambling on spider fights. every country has their nuances there, china japan thailand phillipines etc. neat stuff. a round of golf in japan runs about five hundred bucks because space is at a premium. here i could play eighteen for around a buck a hole and there are at least ten places to play in my immediate vicinity. and as this forum represents a cross section of the world, it's interesting to see what games the folks like to play. i've noticed this time of night (night for me) brings few posts, where my morning and early afternoon is far more active (i've also noticed a lot of russians hitting me up on icq at this time of day, all wanting to practice english on me). so i hope in the coming day that more people will come on and vote and post about what drives them to bet and play. in my life i hope to travel the world, because right now that is all that there is to explore. i believe that in my lifetime we will venture to mars and beyond, and i wait for the day we can contact with some intelligent life from another world. and i'll lay 10 to 1 that aliens gamble/wager on chance just like we do. similarities and differences are wonderful to observe. being human is fantastic. that's one thing we can all love, even though we pollute and kill the earth at an alarming rate, let's hope we can sustain ourselves in this century. but moreover, let's enjoy wagering! ![]()
