    Rival Slots - Changed Paytables

    Hey Guys,

It appears that some of the paytables have changed on the Rival slots at some time (I am unsure when any of this happened). Nifty mentioned a couple slots have changed and I decided to check them all against my records. Here is what I have found (tried to put worst offenders in order - worst at top):

Reel Crime, Art Heist - Payouts decimated (could this game have gotten a worse payout?? Seriously?!?) Scatters no longer pay, except when you trigger the bonus round.. Wild adds 2x multiplier. Looks like they removed 2 scatter symbols along with the free spins + 3x multiplier it triggered. But they added 3 other symbols as scatters now and drastically lowered their payout. All symbols basically pay crap now. Wild only pays on 5 of a kind. And top payout in the bonus round is cut in half (although the minimum you can win is much higher).

    OLD Paytable:

    NEW Paytable:

Grandma's Attic - Paytable drastically reduced except for the scatter which went up slightly. Wild now has 2x multiplier, but the free spins feature was decimated by changing the possibility of 3x - 10x mutlipliers to a standard 3x only

    OLD Paytable:
    grandmasattic_payout.jpg

    NEW Paytable:
    grandmasattic_newpaytable.jpg

Hobo's Hoard - Payouts were drastically reduced except for scatters. Wilds payout on at least 2 of a kind, but the max jackpot there is reduced by 1/2 (which is a lot)

    OLD Paytable:

    NEW Paytable:

So 80's - Payouts decreased mostly overall. Wild has 3x multiplier now and pays out on 2-5 of a kind. Free spins scatter only triggeres free spins and no longer pays out anything (from the looks of it).

    OLD Paytable:

    NEW Paytable:

    Dog Pound Dollars
    - Wild now has a 2X multiplier and the paytable is larger for that symbol. To compensate for that, most of the payouts went down.

    NEW Paytable:

As The Reels Turn 1 - Payouts Changed Only. The images attached are NOT very good, sorry.

    NEW Paytable:

Atomic Age - Payouts Changed Only. Removal of some of the payouts on 2 of a kind.

For Love and Money - Paytable changed, wild now has 2x multiplier.

    OLD Paytable:

    NEW Paytable:

Hole in Won - Payouts the same. Only 1 change - it now says 'Wild Symbol appears only on reels 2, 3, and 4. I assume there is no change, but this is added for clarification.

    OLD Paytable:

    NEW Paytable:

Metal Detector - Payouts changed all over the place.

    OLD Paytable:

    NEW Paytable:

Thanks Nifty for the heads up on this!!!

It looks to me like they lowered the variance. Be interesting to see how the % payouts have changed but I guess that's not possible - do they show monthly audited figures? That may be worth watching over time.

Rival slots (and other games) usually list the expected payout in the help files. I don't know if these numbers have changed or not, as I did not save the specific values. I checked 3 games in the list above. In each case, the help file indicated an expected payout of 96-97%.

It seemed like Rob said the figures were available, but I don't recall how...
I would expect if the slots are now more 'bonus-centric' and the variance was lowered as he said it would be, that the bonus rounds would pay more.. it looks like less in some of the screenies

    Oh Rooooooooob

edit: didn't see the payouts in slotocash help files

edit2: ahhh, thx SW the help file inside the slot, the fine print at the bottom....

Great detective work, kwblue. It will be interesting to see the effect this has on the long-term. I thought their games were about as low variance as you could get without betting $1/spin and getting back exactly 95¢ every time.

For So 80's the help file at Cocoa says it pays back 96.41% but I don't know if this is the same as it was before or not.

I thought the same thing... Some of them look like they are not even worth playing any more Sad - Grandma's Attic was one of my favorites, but I certainly won't play it now.

Great posts KW, but I think you could be painting a worse picture than it actually is.

What we don't know of course, is whether they changed any of the reel layouts at the same time as the paytables. However I think it very unlikely that they have reduced the overall payout percentages by much, if at all.

In the past many players complained that their slots are too low in variance, and this was certainly my impression when I first played them.
My recent experiences (which I'm pretty sure were after the changes you posted) were that indeed the variance has increased.
Personally I welcome this because before I never felt I had a chance of a BIG win, even on the bonus feature, but lately I've had some very nice hits!

They other thing about Rival slots is that the features seem to hit FAR more frequently than at MG or RTG for example - which makes the games more 'playable' in my book.

As you know I record all my play, so once I have built up a reasonable amount of data I'll see what my feature hit frequency actually is.
My gut feel is that on most of their '2-bonus slots' the features hit about every 40-60 spins.

    Good work KW
    Smile, it may never happen...
