I would take you on, but Royal Vegas is screwed up, and coughs and splutters along at less than half the correct speed, and then crashes my PC on exit.
I now find that all these crashes have totally messed up everything, and I am getting "hard drive full" errors even though I seem to have 12Gigs left!!!

No, no... Free entry. If you use up your time, you can rebuy @ $5. The more players, the slower the spins.

When I tried, it was impossible to use up my initial chip allocation, I thought the rebuys just gave more chips if you lost the first lot. My impression is that the winner is decided by summing accumulated payouts, and has nothing to do with whether you win or lose on your initial balance. Depending on the cost and rules of rebuys, it could well be worth it for those tournaments that offer larger prizes. There are a few of these, with prizes over $500.

It's all about how fast your PC can operate the slot, and to this end, it is a waste of time attempting to take on this challenge on this old crock of s***!

However, I am prepared to kick your cyberass on my new DELL Dimension Athlon Dual Core PC with half a Terrabyte over two hard drives, dedicated graphics card, and the ability to run FOUR MG casinos at the same time, while hardly breaking into a sweat.

I have established that all these MG casino bugs have completely corrupted the FAT on this machine, and it is not 12Gigs I really have left, but a mere 300Megabytes , barely enough for the new games on one casino. It is also likely that all the PC utilities have lied about the OK status issued when scanning my PC for faults, because of this corruption.


Anyone care to challenge me at a REAL tournament, Tomorrow at Casino Action?

I have already tried that. It's fine with three simultaneous updates, but seems to sweat a little with four. My Broadband can deliver all the updates, and the load can be shared over the two cores in the processor.
Probably a quad core PC would be able to update 6 MG casinos simultaneously, although the paging file might swell too much.


I have also tested the spin rates, I can get up to 4000 spins per minute on 5 Reel Drive, and just under 2000 per minute on Thunderstruck (plus the free spins, so well over 2000 actual spins). This allows me to compete with very small wagers, yet still hit the top scores.

I will be trying out Royal Vegas soon, as this is exactly what is needed for those timed tournaments. If I get the same errors as on the old PC, I will be displeased.

I played one of the free tourneys which gave the top 10 a free entry to the 2.5k weekender tourney (usually $10 entry). ""Woohoo"" I thinks to meself.

There isnt any point just entering once - you have the option of buying in up to 5 times, regardless of how you go in each round, since the ranking is based on total wins and balance remaining is irrelevant. So, to have any chance to win, you would (I suspect) have to use all 6 buyins at a cost of $60 (since you would have to score about 40k+ based on past results).

I believe it is very misleading, and that the system needs to be changed to a highest end balance system. If you bomb out, then buy back in again - thats fair enough - but to be able to just keep adding on means a person on a single buyin has next to no chance...and most people will be forced to keep re-buying just to compete with others that are re-buying.

I guess it is technically possible to win without max buy-ins, but what are the chances to winning 40k credits in 10 mins betting 75 cr at a time?

I'm happy to be proven wrong, but it just doesnt sit right with me. Everyone should have an equal chance of winning for their entry fee - allow as many rebuys as you want, but not add-ons.

Anyway, that is my take - the way it is now, it bites the big one.

As for "4000 spins per minute", no, twas a typo, it should be 4000 spins PER HOUR! The Royal Vegas tournament slots play far slower than the normal casino versions - I still had 6200 unused coins for the weekender.

I just tried a $50 Thunderstruck free roll + $10 of rebuys and did very badly, 81st I think

Last for a while.

I have got back home now, and while I was able to get Royal Vegas to work almost fine on a cheap PC at my Mum's place, I have yet again failed to install it on my flashy new PC, or get it working properly on this old Windows 98 PC.
On my new PC, I install Royal Vegas, it then does the update sequence, but on the second launch it does ANOTHER update sequence, and at around 95% on this it just unloads itself never to return (it should do the proper launch at this stage and open the lobby for login). After this, the executable becomes a "null program", click on it and nothing whatsoever happens.

To have such problems with Microgaming on such top end kit is just laughable incompetence from the software vendor, and outclasses all the other problems that have happened of late. Their response to this, yet more new games on Wednesday
