Question What would you do in this situation?

I think I've found an error in a casino's wagering requirement tracking system regarding a specific game. I do not play this game nor benefit anything from the error, and there is no comp. point system nor something like that. Furthermore the house edge on this game is so high that the only benefit of this error might be that those, who play the game and also use a bonus, will clear the bonus faster, and probable lose less. But all games count towards the wr anyway, so nobody is forced to play this game.

    What would you do?

    1. Let the casino know the error as soon as possible.
    2. Because of those players, who like this game, and lose now less if they are also interested in the bonus, remain silent.
    3. ???

I would write an email to the casino, but I'm a bit concerned for those (likely very few) players who might play this high house edge game regularly, and might lose more after the error is corrected. I know it's a very remote possibility, but nevertheless I'm still not sure.

I have to add that there might exist such an interpretation of the rules of this game that justifies the error in the wr tracking system, however the way how it is now calculated is at least strange.

    Any thoughts?

Personally I'd do No.1. My experience is generally that if you get a reputation for honesty/integrity then further down the line you may benefit. On the other hand, everyone has their cutoff point

It sounds like you have made up your mind already. By simply asking the question it becomes obvious to me you wish to be honest and inform the casino.

I highly condone you emailing the casino and mentioning your suspicions. Your conscience is clear. Karma baby karma!

I probably wouldn't do anything about it. A small error in the WR is not a big concern.

I wouldn't care. I don't see anything dishonest about not doing the casino's work for them. As long as I don't profit from the error myself, I don't see that I would have any moral obligations here.

edit: but it wouldn't be wrong to tell them either

Treat the csino as you want to be treated.
It might be different, if you know, its a dishonest place.
But i guess, you wouldn t have asked then, would you?

I think you should PM me the details on the error, and I'll let you know if it's a significant problem or not

But seriously, I am curious about what you've noticed. Especially since you say the game has such a high edge. Is it something like Microgaming clearpay rankings, where at some casinos, clearing a bonus on french roulette is slightly +EV? Or is it something specific to one shop?

Did you find a way to exploit Keno? That would be sweet.

It is a common card game, and there's nothing to exploit, because even with the error, the house_edge/wager is still higher than the house edge of some other games. Only the wr tracking system shows more wagers than you actually did if you play this game. So it might have only influence on those (poor) players, who play only this game, and only for the bonus. I doubt that there's any, so it's a rather theoretical question.

It is a no-download casino anyway. I will never post the name of the casino, but maybe I will post details later.

I personally wouldn't tell the casino. But that's just me.

My guess is that it's Let 'em Ride poker, and it counts all the withdrawn bets... ?

CryptoLogic software used to show all these withdrawn bets in total wagered on the log screen, but it didn't actually count towards the WR. (They corrected this error about a year ago).
    Smile, it may never happen...

You should absolutely inform the casino. As Addisyn said, karma is everything. And it can be a bitch when it comes back and bites you in the ass.
