Amazing... 94% so far think that people should be allowed to wager any way they choose...
And the article accompanying the poll, "Online gambling still in the cards?
Loopholes in law aimed at ending Internet betting may render it ineffective", amazingly got it right ......
Read the rest of the very interesting article at Online gambling still in the cards? - BusinessWeek Online - MSNBC.comUnlike the version that passed the House earlier this year, the approved legislation does not explicitly outlaw betting on online casino-style games, such as poker and blackjack. The bill does bar financial institutions from accepting "illegal" bets, leaving the question unanswered as to whether some forms of online gambling are permitted. To date, sports betting is one of the only forms of gambling explicitly outlawed in the act.
That was one of the best articles I have seen on this subject because it addresses specifically how the bill leaves the door open for legislation to allow intrastate online gambling sometime in the future, and how there is already a plan to introduce such measures next year (thus it might be important to start expressing support for online gambling, althought the WTO would seriously hurt our chances of that passing in my opinion).
Holy !!!
The numbers are amazing...
It seems that everyone thinks online gambling shouldnīt be illegal.
Is this a good thing?
Or regardless what people thinks those morons are still going to do what ever they want??
Does public opinion still counts in the US? Is this country still a democracy???
2480 responses already - and a 94 percent approval for online gambling. This may not be "scientific" but it sure gets a message across to me.
Spread the word, folks - this, like the WSJ survey is a great opportunity to make a public point in the mainstream media.

Now 2821 responses.
TB, afraid I no longer have the WSJ link - this was a similar poll taken some months back where a large number of respondents opposed the concept of outlawing online gambling.

I think 90% comes out of what you'd call in the world of statstics a biased sample becuase it's not random, but I still think probably it would be a majority who say yes... the religious right has been bullying the hell out of us for decades now, and they are a minority.
They win becuase they are an orgainzed, highly motivated, and very vocal minority with a clear agenda that votes on all levels reliably.
The problem here is that I'd say a majority of online gamblers probably vote for the GOP due to other issues (taxes, trade, etc.) so the gambling community is quite divided. If they all started voting Democrat suddenly, I think things would change, but I don't think this will shift many Republican votes... or am I wrong?
What say the Republicans here? Willing to go Democrat over this? Vote for Gore or Hillary?
