Should I get my deposit back? (Read post first)

Earlier in September I took up a very large slots-only bonus.
This was my biggest single deposit ever, and I only made it because this was in the T&C's:-

Quote:
The bonus is specifically for Slots games only...
If the bonus is played on any other games, even after wagering the required amount on Slots games has been met, then the winnings and bonus will be deemed void and the initial deposit will be returned.
I played the slots but they were diabolical and totally decimated my bankroll no-where near the WR...
So with only about 20% of my deposit left I played some card games, and then asked for my deposit back, as per their terms.

What do you think - should I have got my deposit back or not?

(I'd particularly like to hear the Meister's view!)

Hmm this is an interesting one, because its obvious that its open to abuse. But basically you have fun, you get down to your last $1 and you stake it on Roulette so you get your deposit back

In my view, if the casino are trying to tempt players with a bonus, then they have to get their T&C's right or face up to the consequnces. They should have specified that if you get below your initial deposit amount then regardless of what you stake on, then you void your deposit too. If there was nothing ele in the T&C's to suggest this, then I have to agree that they should refund the deposit. I can understand why they would argue, but fact is, they made the rules.

Clear

The term clearly outlines the action to be taken if non-slots games are played, that is, winnings and the bonus will be void.

There should not be a problem returning the deposit provided the account has made it back up to the original starting balance, as normally it is deemed that player's own funds are played first. If there has been a loss, then what should be returned is any balance greater than the initial amount of the bonus, up to the value of the deposit.

The other term, although there, seems odd in that the only course of action after meeting WR is to withdraw and redeposit if other games are going to be played - this might encourage the player to not go back. I thought casinos did their best to make it easy to continue playing after deciding to withdraw.

Sorry KK I voted no. I interpret the rule to mean that deposits will be returned after WR have been met and excluded games were then played.

Hmmm. Strange that you & Vinyl have to 'interpret' what is written clearly & concisely in black & white!
The only reason you are trying to interpret something that's not there is that you don't believe the rule was meant to be written like that - which of course, it wasn't!

But the fact that it says 'if even after meeting the WR..' means that it also applies before meeting WR.
And no-where does it say that your bank has to be at any particular level for this rule to apply.

As of today I see the votes are exactly 50/50 - I'll leave it a few more days & then tell you what happened...

Since you lost you playing allowed games (slots) I don't think you should get your deposit back except what was left of it when you started playing non-allowed games.

It depends on whether you ever played a cent of the bonus on other games. You mentioned you had 20% of your deposit left. Did you, at any time, play other games with the bonus ie meaning that your whole deposit was wiped out. Though it sounds wierd, at least you should get your deposit back because you were playing other games with their bonus.

You're right.
To clarify - I'd lost all my deposit (played first) on slots and had about 20% of the bonus left (e.g. about 10% of my starting balance) before I played a card game.
So yes, I was playing with bonus money.

Then its simple. According to what is written, you get your deposit back. Too bad they didnt realize the folly of the terms. The casino shoud learn a lesson and be wiser next time.

I voted Yes since the way they have written the terms they state your initial deposit will be refunded.

Granted I am sure they meant that if you won playing any of the other games and tried a positive withdrawal but then again I am so tired of seeing the casinos write up these terms then hold people to the FU clause. If they can't take a few minutes and amend a pourly written T&C then they should be held to the terms just like they hold us players to them.

A contract is to be read and taken in literal sense, in this case they should return your deposit and then ammend their T&C. It is a small price for them to pay in the long run so they will not have to deal with situations like this in the future.
