    Are Roulette minimums crazy?

From time to time I get really angry about online Roulette from the major providers, and was wondering if it’s just me, or do others agree?

I am of course, talking about the ridiculous $1 (or €1, or £1) minimum chip size.

I like to play Roulette occasionally, but no-one plays with just a couple of chips at a time so 1 credit minimum chips puts the game way out of budget range for the majority of players.

I am totally mystified as to why the casinos have such high minimum’s – they are losing out on potentially $1,000’s of income with this crazy rule!

Am I alone, or do others agree – please vote now!

Note: I know there are several places where you can play for less, but this poll is about the majority of sites where you can not. (i.e. All MGs, Cryptos, RTGs & most Playtechs).

Well KK, I finally understand your feeling about minimum bets. Now that I play with mini-BR, trying to learn poker. I play only 0.01/0.02 or 0.05/0.1 not higher, I just can't afford more at time...And it makes fun even with such small bets. (Play money is not so much fun - not really excitement if you win). I would never imagine that I could be so happy about winning .45 cent, like now playing lim. Holdem!

It makes me angry too, that at some casinos BJ minimum bet is no less as $2-$5.

The only reason I could ever think of having such high minimums is to keep the servers from being tied up. But i just think it is because they dont know any better.

    KasinoKing, good point.

They should definitely lower the minimum bets.

    Roulette

This game has a low house edge, giving the chance of low bets is not wise.

Put yourselves on the manager's shoes. You have a game that some months leaves you nothing but losses, why would you lower the stakes if you already have people happy playing at $1 a number?

    KK,

Are you referring to single number bets only? $1 minimums are much too high because players like myself would love to make a huge spread of say 8-10 numbers per spin and this would cost $8 to $10. Personally I think they should be reduced to 10c minimum. However, for even bets ie red/black or odd/even and sector bets(I dont know if this is the correct term), $1 minimums are reasonable.

I think you mean to say the highest house edge of all table games, an edge that rivals that of slot machines.

There is no roulette table, on land or online, that shows a loss over any appreciable amount of action.

why would you lower the stakes if you already have people happy playing at $1 a number?
    Can't argue there.

Yes, I am referring to chips for single numbers.
Like you, I use a spread pattern of at least 9 chips.
Tables with $1 chips usually have $5 minimum on 'even money' bets anyway - which does not bother me personally because I never bet on those.

The Watchdog; Your 'low edge' comment is frankly nonsense (no offence).
Do you know the casino's already have plenty of players happy with $1 chips? I doubt they do. I feel they could have 2 or 3 times more players with lower chips. And regardless of the chip size, the HA is still 2.7% minimum!

Gotta agree KK, the mins are way to high. I think you are right that the casinos are missing a potential fortune due to this. Let us loose with 10c chips and you wont be able to see the layout on multiplayer tables I guarantee!!!

Maybe they could have 10c chips with a min total bet of $1.

I don't really play roulette so I'm not completely familiar with the rules or the patterns people like to bet on, but can't you put $1 on the corner of four numbers so it's like betting $0.25 per number?
